Fourth-Gen Nissan X-Trail officially teased ahead of its market debut in India.
Will be brought in as a CBU, possibly in limited numbers.
Internationally it is available in both two-wheel and all-wheel drive options.
Gets a mild-hybrid powertrain mated to a 12V battery.
Nissan India has teased the fourth-gen X-Trail which is expected to launch in India in the next month. Earlier, Nissan had showcased the new X-Trail in India alongside the Juke and Qashqai, back in October 2022. The Nissan X-Trail second generation had a brief stint in the domestic autospace earlier and the fourth-gen model is expected to enter via the CBU (Completely Built Unit) route.
The fourth-gen Nissan X-Trail is a full-size premium family SUV available in both 5-seater and 7-seater configurations. It is 4680 mm long, 1840 mm wide and 1725 mm tall with 2705 mm wheelbase, which makes it a direct competitor to the likes of the Skoda Kodiaq and Jeep Meridian sold in the Indian market.
Out goes the boxy silhouette and in comes a more chiseled design for the X-Trail. The Nissan X-Trail in its fourth-gen avatar gets sharper looks, cuts and creases amplifying its overall appeal. It gets a split headlamp setup with sleek looking DRLs and the latest V-motion grille design. From the side, a high window line, large fender haunches, give it a hunkered up stance. The stylish rear end of the X-Trail looks attractive and suits its overall proportions.
The fourth-gen Nissan X-Trail gets a stylish yet functional interior cabin. The main highlights of the cabin are the soft touchpoints and the sleek screens provided. It features a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless connectivity for Android Auto and Apple CarPlay along with built-in Google Assistant and Amazon Alexa. A large 12.3-inch digital driver’s instrumentation provides all the vital information about the vehicle and even a large 10.8-inch widescreen HUD (heads-up display) to top it off.
Comfort and convenience features like wireless phone charging, ambient lighting, powered tailgate, heated & powered front seats with memory function, a 10-speaker premium Bose surround sound system, three-zone automatic climate control unit and a panoramic sunroof, further enhance its overall appeal.
On the safety front, the global-spec Nissan SUV gets 7-airbags, ABS with EBD, electronic stability control, traction control system, hill-start and hill-hold assist, 360-degree surround-view camera with front and rear parking sensors, ISOFIX child seat mounts along with ADAS features like Forward Collision Warning, Lane-Keep Assist, Emergency Braking and Adaptive Cruise Control.
For the international markets, the Nissan X-Trail is offered with a 1.5-litre turbo petrol engine mated to a hybrid system with an 8-speed automatic transmission. It is available in both two-wheel drive (204 PS and 330 Nm) and all-wheel drive (213 PS and 495 Nm) configurations. The AWD variants get driving modes such as: Normal, Sport, Eco,Off-road and Snow Mode.
It is yet to be confirmed which powertrain option will make its way for the Indian market.
In the international market, the Nissan X-Trail is offered in four different trims: XE, SV, SV Premium and SVE. It is available in 10 monotone and 5 dual tone colour hues to choose from.
As a fully-built import, we expect the new Nissan X-Trail to be introduced at a price tag north of Rs 40 lakh (ex-showroom), which will compete against other premium SUVs like the Skoda Kodiaq, Jeep Meridian, Hyundai Tucson, and the Citroen C5 Aircross.
