Mahindra sold 4,181 units of the petrol Scorpio N.
Combined diesel sales of Scorpio Classic and Scorpio N tally up to 2,274 units.
The 200PS 2-litre turbo-petrol engine is offered with the Scorpio N, which also gets a 2.2-litre diesel unit in two states of tune.
Scorpio Classic gets a sole diesel powertrain.
Both SUVs have an average waiting period of 3 months.
There was a time when the go-to choice of engine for a big rugged SUV was unquestionably a diesel unit. But times have changed. The world is constantly trying to shift towards a cleaner fuel alternative, but until there is a foolproof replacement for fossil fuels, it seems like petrol is the answer for now. That’s exactly the case for the sales figures of the Mahindra Scorpio, as the petrol trims of the SUV outsold the diesel ones in November, and that too without dropping a sweat.
The total petrol units of the Scorpio N sold in November stands at 4,181. That figure is nearly double the figure posted by the combined diesel units of the Scorpio N and Scorpio Classic, which is 2,274 units. We suspect Mahindra is prioritising production and sales of the petrol variants first, before focussing on the diesel variants.

It is worth noting that the petrol powertrain is available only with the new generation Scorpio N as the Scorpio Classic gets a sole 2.2-litre diesel powertrain. Even still, the petrol units managed to outsell the diesel units of the two SUVs combined.

The Scorpio N and Scorpio Classic, both are selling like hot cakes and that is directly transmitted in their respective waiting times. Both SUVs average a three-month waiting period in the majority of the cities. The highest waiting time of up to 5 months for the Scorpio N is seen in Bengaluru.
The lowest waiting period is seen in Mumbai, but even still, you’ll have to wait for at least a couple of months to get delivery of both the Scorpio N and Scorpio Classic. While the Scorpio N is now more premium and rivals the likes of the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Volkswagen Taigun and the MG Hector, at the same time, the Scorpio Classic offers a rugged alternative to the aforementioned models. Mahindra retails the Scorpio N between Rs 11.99 lakh and Rs 23.90 lakh, while the Scorpio Classic is priced from Rs 11.99 lakh to Rs 15.49 lakh (ex-showroom).
