Since its launch, KTM fanboys have prayed for a bit more off-road versatility from the 390 Adventure. More recently, KTM introduced three new variants of the 390 ADV - 390 Adventure V (low seat), 390 Adventure X (basic and affordable), and recently, the 390 Adventure with spoke rims and adjustable suspension - prayers finally answered, ey? However, the extra versatility comes at a cost - Rs 3.6 lakh, Rs 21K more than the standard variant. This makes us wonder, what else can we get for that much money in the used bike market and here’s what we found!
Back in the day (launched in 2014) Street 750 was the most affordable Harley-Davidson bike on sale – Rs 4.1 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi) and quickly became a popular purchase for cruiser lovers. The accessible price point encouraged many Royal Enfield fans to consider getting one home, because on offer was nearly 60PS and 65Nm. Today, you can find many Street 750s in ship shape on sale for below Rs 4 lakh! That said, sourcing the parts for the bike will be a bit of a challenge considering it's no longer in production.
Launched at Rs. 4.78 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi) in 2014, this was a super accessible yet premium motorcycle. In fact, it was the most affordable 650cc bike in India at the time. Essentially a naked sibling to the Ninja 650, the ER-6n packed Kawsaki’s super enjoyable 650cc twin-cylinder motor offering nearly 72PS and 64Nm, it offered a big bike experience at a not-so-big price tag. Check out the ER-6n’s review here.
Royal Enfield broke the premium bike market in India with the 650 twins. They were priced so ridiculously well, until their arrival it was nearly unfathomable to get - 1. A multi-cylinder big bike under Rs 3.5 lakh and 2. A Royal Enfield that actually goes fast! But, the twins (now triplets) were and are still some of the most exciting, affordable and also premium twin-cylinder bikes on sale today. In Rs 3.6 lakh you can get a Continental GT 650, turn into a retro racer and be the coolest cat in town!
Just like the ER-6n, the Ninja 650 has been a super accessible motorcycle to buy over the years. However, today with prices for almost everything going up, the affordability of the sports tourer has gone down. It now costs Rs 7.12 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). However, the Ninja 650 has been on sale for over a decade and now many have made their way to the used market and you can get one in a decent condition with not too many miles on it for the same price as the new 390 ADV.
Not convinced with our list yet? You’re still looking for a bike that handles both road and off-road? How about two bikes for the price of one? Experts have concurred that the 390 Duke is a super capable road tourer, much better than the 390 ADV.
And until now, the 390 ADV wasn’t as capable off-road as the Royal Enfield Himalayan, which is average at road touring. Today, in Rs 3.6 lakh, you can get a used 390 Duke for road touring and a Himalayan for off-road fun. That’s two birds in one stone.
