Nissan has revealed the fourth-generation X-Trail, ahead of its expected launch in the coming weeks. With this, the X-Trail moniker will be making a comeback in India after a gap of over 10 years, and will be sold alongside the Magnite, which is currently Nissan’s only other model on sale in India. It will be brought to our shores as a fully imported model and here’s everything you need to know about it.
The X-Trail SUV sports a split-headlight setup and retains the familiar grille, which is finished in dark chrome. It sits on 20-inch alloy wheels that are available as standard and the side profile features body cladding. The rear gets the Nissan logo placed in the centre, right above the “X-Trail” badging, and flanked by wraparound LED tail lamps.
The SUV will be offered in three different hues: Pearl White, Champagne Silver and Diamond Black.
In terms of dimensions, it measures 4680 mm in length, 1840 mm in width and 1725 mm in height and has a wheelbase of 2705 mm.
The X-Trail will come with features including, an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a 12.3-inch digital driver’s display, a panoramic sunroof, electronic parking brake with auto-hold function, paddle shifters and wireless phone charger.
In terms of safety, it gets 7 airbags, ABS with EBD, a 360-degree camera, front and rear parking sensors, hill-start assist and traction control.
The X-Trail will be available as a 7-seater SUV, with fabric seats. The second row seats get a 40/20/40 split folding feature, while the third row seats get 50-50 split folding. The middle row seats are offered with sliding and reclining functions as well.
Under the hood, it comes with a 1.5-litre three-cylinder turbo-petrol engine with an output of 163 PS and 300 Nm. Paired to the unit is a 12V mild-hybrid system for added torque boost. The engine will be paired to a shift-by-wire CVT gearbox.
With the Nissan X-Trail being a fully-imported vehicle (CBU), it is expected to be priced upwards of Rs 40 lakh (ex-showroom). It will rival other SUVs like the Skoda Kodiaq, Hyundai Tucson, Jeep Meridian, MG Gloster, and the Toyota Fortuner.
