(Update: The Royal Enfield Guerrilla 450 has been launched. Check out the details here.)
The new Royal Enfield Guerrilla 450 is based on the Himalayan 450
The road-biassed bike will be launched on July 17
There are at least two variants of the bike
The Royal Enfield Guerrilla 450 will be launched on July 17, 2024. It will have at least two variants and the base variant is expected to be priced between Rs 2.2 lakh to Rs 2.3 lakh (ex-showroom), introductory. The top variant could be priced Rs 10,000 more. For reference, the Himalayan 450 is priced between Rs 2.85 lakh to 2.98 lakh (ex-showroom, Chennai).
The Guerrilla 450 will be powered by the same engine as the Himalayan – 452cc liquid-cooled single-cylinder. While this engine makes 40PS and 40Nm in the ADV bike, it could be slightly retuned to match the Guerrilla’s character. While the Himalayan gets an inverted fork, the Guerrilla gets a cost-effective conventional telescopic fork with gaiters. The complex front-end has made way for a cleaner look. Gone are the headlight cowl, the windscreen, and the metal tank braces. Not only will this make the front end lighter, but it will also help bring down the price. Even the wheels are smaller, now 17 inches on both ends, wrapped in the more affordable Ceat Gripp XL tubeless tyres. The seat is a single-piece unit as well. While all of these changes help the Guerrilla stay true to its purpose, they also help RE bring down the price.
The lower variant of the Guerrilla 450 will be equipped with a semi-digital instrument cluster, and will have the optional Tripper display for turn-by-turn navigation. This means there won’t be any smartphone connectivity unless you opt for the navigation pod. Also, the lower variant gets a single-tone paint scheme. The lower variant will also miss out on the Eco & Performance riding modes and ABS modes. All of these factors would contribute towards further lowering the base variant’s price from Himlayan’s.
The top variant gets a few changes over the base version, which will slightly increase its price. The most notable changes include the full TFT display with Google Maps navigation, riding modes, ABS modes, and more premium, dual-tone paint schemes.
While the price difference between these variants won’t be drastic, it will be enough to separate the two variants from each other. The pricing difference will also be likely just enough to push someone with a budget of the lower variant, to the higher variant with the lure of more features and tech. This pricing strategy is not new and is more common in the tech industry, but I digress. The Triumph Speed 400 is currently being offered with a discount of Rs 10,000, which gives it a price tag of Rs 2.24 lakh (ex-showroom), which makes it slightly higher than its introductory launch price. The Guerrilla 450 will be launched with the Speed 400 in its crosshairs and should have an aggressive introductory launch price to help take the kill.
