As the summer draws closer, Royal Enfield seems to be bringing the heat down by testing its new 450cc liquid-cooled engine on the upcoming Hunter 450, which has been spied yet again.
Based on the Royal Enfield Himalayan 450, the Hunter 450 will be a sporty roadster with retro elements including a rounded headlight, taillight and mirrors. Interestingly, the design takes slight inspiration from the Royal Enfield Hunter 350, though the rear section is similar to that of the new Himalayan.
Now we already know that the bike gets a single-piece seat, a telescopic fork and monoshock suspension setup, and mid-set footpegs. And keeping things true to the roadster genre are the 17-inch wheels, with a similar alloy design as the Shotgun 650.
It will likely make the same 40.02PS and 40Nm from the 450cc liquid-cooled single-cylinder ‘Sherpa’ engine seen on the Himalayan 450. However, the engine tuning on the Hunter 450 is expected to be different to better suit the roadster’s character.
Even the console is borrowed from its adventure sibling – a TFT console with Bluetooth connectivity, music and phone control, and full-fledged Google Maps integrated navigation.
The Royal Enfield Hunter 450 is likely to launch by the end of 2024 with an expected price tag of around Rs 2.6 lakh (ex-showroom). Once here, it will take on the Triumph Speed 400, Husqvarna Svartpilen 401, Hero Mavrick 440, Harley-Davidson X440 and QJ Motor SRC 500.
