In a recent investor presentation, Royal Enfield disclosed plans to launch multiple bikes based on its 450cc and 650cc platforms. While the Super Meteor 650 is the first to come from the new lot, there are plenty more in the lineup. Read on to find out more about them all.
Amplifying the idea of the same heart but different skins, Enfield plans to introduce around six more bikes based on its 650cc twin-engine platform and these include the Shotgun 650, Classic 650, Himalayan 650, Scrambler 650, Bullet 650 and a sportier, faired version of the cafe racer, the Continental GT 650.
We have already seen Royal Enfield testing the Shotgun 650 a couple of times, and it is a bobber-esque, sporty take on the laid-back cruiser that is the Super Meteor 650. It is likely to debut sometime around November 2023.
What seems to be quite interesting is the Himalayan 650, which could be more of a touring-centric ADV with a 650cc engine. Of course, the bike is unlikely to be a hardcore off-roader considering the 650cc powertrain and chassis are inherently heavy. A more accessible version of it would be the Scrambler 650, prototypes of which we have already seen. We expect the Himalayan 650 to break cover sometime in early 2025 and rival the Kawasaki Versys 650. The Scrambler, on the other hand, could be launched in late 2024.

This is the first time we have come across the prospect of the Bullet 650 and Classic 650, and honestly, it is quite enticing. Where these motorcycles sit in Enfield’s portfolio – will these be the most affordable 650cc bikes? – is something we’re yet to see. Although both are pretty far away from entering the market, with Classic 650 likely to debut in the third quarter of 2023 and Bullet 650 coming sometime in mid-2024.
Nonetheless, the iconic moniker Bullet is first going to be slapped on a new machine built on the J-series platform and the 2023 Royal Enfield Bullet 350 is likely to enter the market in the first half of next year.
Summing up, we will also be receiving an updated version of the Continental GT 650 sometime around July 2023. The updated model of the GT will be even more cafe racer-ish with a fairing and slightly more premium hardware, including adjustable rear suspension. This model has already been spied on and you can head here for a complete analysis.
The future for Enfield seems to be a promising one with multiple bikes on multiple platforms under development. Adding to that, expanding the 650cc platform will give the brand a better stronghold on the premium bike segment and an opportunity to rival the likes of Kawasaki and Triumph better, in both local and international markets.
