Skoda will be extending its car lineup in India by introducing a new subcompact SUV, the Kylaq. It will be revealed on November 6, 2024 and is expected to be launched on our shores sometime in early 2025. The Kylaq will be based on the familiar MQB AO IN platform which underpins larger Skoda cars like the Slavia and Kushaq.
Till now, Skoda has officially teased the camouflaged version of the upcoming Kylaq. The images showcase a few of its design details and the silhouette, giving us an idea of what to expect. Here is a proper look at the images that have been revealed and everything that we have decoded from the covered car:
As mentioned above, the Kylaq will feature a new ‘Modern Solid’ design language which will help it stand out from the larger Kushaq. The fascia will get a new look which sports a split headlight setup consisting of sleek-looking DRLs placed above the main headlamps. However, it will get the familiar butterfly grille which we have seen on other Skoda cars like the Kushaq and the full-size Kodiaq.
The Kylaq will boast a Kushaq-like silhouette and a near identical profile, but with a completely fresh design for the 17-inch alloy wheels. We expect the door handles and window borders to get a chrome finish and to elevate its SUV stance, you get roof rails. While not all dimensions have been revealed so far, here is a look at the length, ground clearance and wheelbase:

From the teased images, you can spot a new design for the LED tail lights which further help to to set it apart from its larger sibling. Adding to the sporty appeal are elements like shark fin antenna and roof mounted spoiler. A rear defogger and wiper with washer will also be provided. Overall, the Kylaq’s stance looks more beefed up and taller from the rear. As seen on most subcompact SUVs, Skoda could give the Kylaq a silver skid plate which will further add bulk to its rugged looks.
Skoda likely will be offering the Kylaq with a plethora of features and some of them have even been confirmed by the Czech carmaker. The known ones include 6 airbags as standard, ventilated front seats and powered driver seats. Expected features on board include a 10-inch touchscreen infotainment screen, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a sunroof, an 8-inch digital driver’s display, keyless entry and automatic climate control.

The safety kit is expected to include ABS with EBD, tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS), electronic stability control (ESC), and hill-hold assist.
The Kylaq will be powered by a 1-litre turbo-petrol engine which churns out 115 PS and 178 Nm. The engine can be paired with either a 6-speed manual transmission or a 6-speed torque-converter transmission.
The Skoda Kylaq is expected to be priced from Rs 8.5 lakh (ex-showroom). It will compete with subcompact SUVs like the Maruti Brezza, Kia Sonet, Tata Nexon, Hyundai Venue, and Mahindra XUV 3XO.
