We at ZigWheels had a chance to ride 4 supersports this year, including 2 Japanese bikes, an Indian and an Italain one. All 4 were amazing machines, with their own unique character. Here’s a brief overview of the bikes and what we liked about them.
When the Aprilia RS 457 was launched in India, we were super excited. When we got to test it out, we understood that our hype was not misplaced. The bike managed to offer really thrilling performance and kept us on our toes.
What we really liked about the bike is how powerful it is, being able to maintain triple digit speeds without breaking a sweat. The handling is also quite impressive, and the bike tips into corners effortlessly.
The bike comes at an ex-showroom price of Rs 4,10,000 which makes it a really sweet deal. Overall, the bike manages to thoroughly impress with its performance and features.
The Yamaha R3 was once offered in India, and later discontinued. It has been a much sought after bike ever since. With the relaunch in India this year, we got a chance to test the bike extensively.
The bike is priced at Rs 4,64,900 (ex-showroom Delhi), which is an insane amount. The bike is also quite plain when it comes to features, and doesn’t even offer a slipper clutch. But even with these issues, we had a really good time with the machine. The performance the 321cc parallel twin motor has to offer is really amazing.
The Kawasaki Ninja 500 was launched as a replacement to the Ninja 400. The bike has a larger engine than the Ninja 400 as the name suggests, and this has improved the performance.
Like any other Japanese bike, the engine is absolutely smooth with little to no vibrations at higher speeds. The bike also handles quite well, and the plush suspension can easily soak up most bumps and undulations. The suspension setup also manages to offer that sporty performance needed to hit the twisties quite well.
Overall, the Ninja 500 was an amazing bike and is a good choice if you’re looking for a simple no nonsense supersport. But the price is a bit too high and will be a pain point for many.
The TVS Apache RR 310 had remained rather unchanged since launch. This year TVS gave it a much needed update. Now the bike has undergone a change in design and a big improvement in performance.
The bike now comes with fairing mounted winglets which make it look like a big bike. Add in the transparent clutch cover, and you have an amazing looking motorcycle. The performance bump has also been quite noticeable with the bike feeling a lot peppier in the lower range. Overall, as far as updates are concerned the 2024 update for the RR 310 is definitely one of the best. It has made the bike really good and even better than before.
