Aston Martin’s new DB12, which supposedly marks the beginning of a new generation of sports cars for Aston Martin, is now here in India. The British marque has launched the supertourer (as it calls) at a price tag of Rs 4.59 crore (ex-showroom) and deliveries will start from Q2 2024. It replaces the DB11 and Aston Martin says that it is 80 percent fresh compared to it. Let’s take a look at what has changed:
Aston knows how to craft a visually appealing vehicle and the DB12 is no different. Yes, it does look similar to the DB11, but there’s a lot of attention to detail that has gone into the tiniest of things that make it new. The three-piece DRL signature on the revised headlights, for example, is such an intricate design that it looks exquisite. And then there’s the not-so-intricate Aston’s signature grille, which is now even bigger and meaner.
And talking about bigger things, the DB12 has grown a wider track at the front and rear, which gives its stance more attitude and character. The profile has been untouched for the most part, save for the new forged 21-inch alloy wheels. The rear, too, is fairly similar with the same sleek tail lights from the DB11, resting on the thick and curvy rear end.
Saying Aston has upped the game here would be an understatement and unfair to the work that has been done inside the DB12. The changes take the cabin to a whole new level, at least for Aston itself, considering that the previous Aston cockpits haven’t exactly been up to date and not as gorgeous as the exterior.
The new design aside, the focal point is the in-house developed 10.25-inch infotainment system, which sits at the helm of the chunky centre console. Everything looks chic and well-designed to look at, and thankfully, Aston hasn’t gone all digital for various functions. As a result, the tunnel is laden with buttons and dials of all sorts, and we love it!
There’s no V12 underneath the long hood of the DB12. But hey, when did a V8 become a bad thing, that too a Mercedes-AMG sourced unit? The 4-litre twin-turbo V8 is good for 680PS and 800Nm, which is sent to the rear wheels via an 8-speed automatic transmission.
It does the 0-96kmph sprint in just 3.5 seconds, and it’s not only the straight lines where the Aston will have you grinning ear-to-ear. Tweaked mechanicals, with an electronic rear differential and adaptive dampers ensure a dynamically poised and comfortable drive at the same time.

The DB12 is fairly more expensive than the outgoing model, but it does have a lot more going for it as well. Once on the streets, the super tourer will take the fight to the Ferrari Roma and Mclaren GT.
