Suzuki Intruder 150: First Ride Review

Suzuki has confirmed that the Intruder 155 has been discontinued in the Indian market. No specific reason for the decision has been announced, but the answer seems pretty obvious: poor sales numbers.
Up until December 2021, the Suzuki Intruder was recording just double-digit sales numbers, and since January 2022, it failed to record even a single sale. This consistent zero sales for the last six months is likely what pushed the Japanese bikemaker to put a halt to the Intruder's time in India. Its rival, the Bajaj Avenger Street 160, has managed to record healthy sales of 1,824 units (May 2022 sales) implying that the segment is received relatively well.
There are a couple of reasons why the Intruder never worked the way Suzuki intended. It was chiefly done in by its polarising design, along with the harsh ride quality. Additionally, the asking price of Rs 1.28 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi) seemed absurdly high to most people, as you could have bought the Bajaj Avenger 220 Cruise for less money!
With this move, we think Suzuki might just also have brought the unwritten chapter of the Intruder 250 to a close as well. The bike was patented in 2019 and was supposed to arrive sometime last year. Another thing that might have prompted Suzuki to abandon this route is the growing demand for adventure (or at least adventure-style) motorcycles in the country. And the manufacturer obliged and brought out the V-Strom SX earlier this year.
