Tata Motors India is all set to introduce a sportier version of the Altroz hatchback named the Altroz Racer. Earlier showcased at the Bharat Mobility Expo, the Altroz Racer carries some cosmetic tweaks both inside out, and features a powerful turbo petrol engine for that extra oomph! It will give a fight to the Hyundai i20 N Line, which has been facing no competition for a while.
Here are the top 5 things you should know about the Altroz Racer, before its launch expected in early June 2024.
The Altroz Racer looks apart from the regular Altroz due to the sporty decals over the body. A blacked-out theme has been followed here with a dual tone paint scheme. Apart from the roof, alloy wheels and ORVMs, the bonnet can also be seen in black with dual stripes running across the car. A new orange hue can also be noticed on this model.
An all-black colour scheme has been used to enhance the sportiness of the cabin. The dashboard can also be seen in gloss piano black finish and the new orange exterior shade also makes its way to the interior. The generous use of a contrasting orange colour can be seen on the AC vents, gear console, stitching on the steering wheel and the stripes on the seats. On closer look, we’ll also get to notice that the ambient lights and footwell lights are now in an orange hue.
A larger 10.25-inch infotainment screen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto will make its way to the Altroz racer, complete with a 360 degree camera setup. We’ve already seen this unit used earlier in other Tata cars like the Punch and Nexon.
For added comfort, it will also be equipped with ventilated front seats, a voice-activated sunroof, and six airbags as standard. Bits such as rain-sensing wipers, automatic headlights, wearable key, height-adjustable front seats will be carried forward.
The Altroz Racer will be getting the turbo-petrol unit from the Nexon. This engine will help the Altroz Racer produce 120 PS and 170 Nm, as opposed to the 110 PS and 140 Nm figures of the turbo-petrol in the standard Altroz. The Altroz Racer is anticipated to be offered in a 6-speed manual transmission.
Upon its launch, we can expect the Altroz Racer to command a price increment over the standard variants. It is anticipated to be based on higher-trims and will be launched at a price north of Rs 10 lakh (ex-showroom). It will directly compete with the Hyundai i20 N line while being a sportier alternative to the Maruti Suzuki Baleno and Toyota Glanza.
