Tata Altroz Racer teased officially for the first time
It was first showcased at the 2023 Auto Expo, followed by a display at 2024 Bharat Mobility Show
Will get some exterior enhancements including a black hood and white stripes
Interior changes will include orange inserts throughout and more premium features over the regular Altroz
Will be equipped with a 120 PS turbo-petrol engine sourced from the Nexon
Prices to be revealed in June 2024, will rival the Hyundai i20 N Line
The Tata Altroz Racer finally seems to be racing to its launch after making its debut at the 2023 Auto Expo. It has indeed taken some time, but Tata has finally teased the hot hatch for the first time ever. We even recently spotted it pottering about without any disguise ahead of its imminent launch and here’s what the teaser brings you.
Umm, nothing much to be honest. All it reveals is the side profile of the car, that too in which only 3/4th of the car is visible. None of the black hood or the sporty white stripes can be seen here. All you can decipher is the dual tone colour scheme and the alloy wheels, which are just a blacked out version of the current Altroz’s alloys. The latter is different to what we’ve seen on the display car at the Bharat Mobility Expo, which boasted a 10-spoke alloy design.
Thankfully, Tata has retained the roof spoiler of the Altroz Racer, which will play a significant role in upping its sporty demeanor. The teaser doesn’t reveal any details of its interior. But going by the display vehicles at the two expos, you can expect a sporty all-black interior theme contrasted by orange accents that match the exterior.
It is expected to get feature updates as well, including a larger 10.25-inch infotainment screen with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a 360-degree camera setup, ventilated seats and a digital driver’s display as seen in other Tata models.

But the main attraction will be the Nexon-sourced 120 PS/170 Nm 1.2-litre turbo-petrol engine, which could be paired to a 6-speed manual transmission. For reference, the standard Altroz’s 1.2-litre turbo-petrol engine delivers 110 PS and 140 Nm, only. But unlike Hyundai’s N Line models, no mechanical tweaks or upgrades for the steering and suspension are expected here. It does, however, get a dual-tip exhaust based on the test mule we spotted.
Given that the first teaser is now out, the launch of the Altroz Racer should just be on the horizon. It will command a premium over the existing top-end pricing of the Altroz, which goes up to Rs 10.79 lakh (ex-showroom). It will be a rival to the Hyundai i20 N line while being a sportier alternative to the Maruti Suzuki Baleno and Toyota Glanza.
