The Tata Altroz Racer has entered the India Book of Records as the fastest Indian hatchback around the CoASST race track.
The Tata Altroz Racer, which was launched recently, has created a lot of buzz in the Indian auto space with its racy looks and sporty performance. On June 12th, the Tata Altroz Racer earned the prestigious title of the fastest Indian hatchback, which was awarded by the “India Book Of Records”. This accolade was achieved by setting the fastest lap time ever recorded at the CoASST Race Track in Coimbatore (Tamil Nadu). This impressive feat was accomplished with none other than former Indian F1 race driver Narain Karthikeyan behind the wheel.

Lap Timing around CoASST circuit
The Tata Altroz Racer, being driven by Narain Karthikeyan, clocked a complete lap around the CoASST race track in just under 2 minutes and 21.74 seconds, hence achieving the feat of being the “Fastest Indian Hatchback” around the circuit.
The Altroz Racer was even pitched against its direct contenders, the Hyundai i20 N Line and the Maruti Suzuki Fronx. The Maruti Suzuki Fronx Turbo managed to finish the lap in 2 minutes and 22.72 seconds, making it almost a second slower than the Altroz Racer. The Hyundai i20 N Line secured the third place in this battle of the hatchbacks by clocking in the lap at 2 minutes and 23.96 seconds.

The Altroz Racer is the sportier rendition of the Altroz hatchback, with cosmetic tweaks to the exteriors and interiors, along with a powerful engine borrowed from the Nexon. It gets powered by a 1.2-litre turbo petrol engine mated to a 6-speed manual transmission producing 120 PS and 170 Nm.
The Altroz Racer is a feature-loaded hatchback with niceties like a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless connectivity for Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a 7-inch digital driver’s display, automatic climate control, ventilated front seats, an 8-speaker premium Harman Kardon surround sound system, wireless phone charger, ambient lighting and a single-pane sunroof.
Safety equipment encompasses 6 airbags, ABS with EBD as standard along with electronic stability control, parking sensors, 360-degree camera and ISOFIX child seat mounts. It is available in three different variants–R1, R2 and R3–with three different colour hues to choose from. The Tata Altroz Racer is priced from Rs 9.49 lakh to Rs 10.99 lakh (ex-showroom).
