The Tata Altroz Racer is all set for its launch tomorrow. To be offered in three variants, the Racer version is going to be a separate avatar for the Altroz nameplate, boasting sportier styling elements, new features and an uprated engine. And while the standard Altroz and Altroz Racer will coexist, Tata will axe the 110 PS/ 140 Nm i-Turbo petrol engine from the standard Altroz’s lineup.
So while the Nexon-sourced turbo-petrol engine will surely attract petrolheads, it will also be the sole turbo-petrol option on offer. So if you want a turbo-petrol powered Altroz, then the Racer variant will have to be your inevitable pick.

Just like before, you won’t be able to spec an Altroz turbo with an automatic option. That’s because the new 120 PS/ 170 Nm 1.2-litre turbo-petrol engine will only be available with a 6-speed MT. The outgoing 110PS engine was offered with a 5-speed MT.

Considering all the changes, you can expect a price bump over the standard Altroz, which is sold from Rs 6.64 lakh (ex-showroom). It will rival the Hyundai i20 N Line, while sporting an affordable alternative against the likes of the Maruti Suzuki Baleno and Toyota Glanza.
