The Tata Nexon has consistently ranked among the top-selling SUVs in India in recent years. Tata recently announced that the Nexon retained its position as the best-selling SUV in the country for the FY23-24 period, with the Tata Punch following closely as the number two SUV for the same financial year.
A point to note is that the sales numbers of both the Nexon and the Punch include those of their EV counterparts.

While the above table shows yearly sales figures for both Tata SUVs, the carmaker has not disclosed specific sales numbers for their EV counterparts. However, Tata has revealed that the Nexon EV accounted for 12 percent of total Nexon sales in FY23-24 and the Punch EV constituted 16 percent of overall Punch sales since its launch in January 2024, till March 2024 end.
The last quarter of FY23-24 also saw the highest sales figures for both SUVs. In January 2024, Tata dispatched 17,148 units of the Nexon, while in February 2024, they delivered 18,438 units of the Punch.
In August 2019, Tata achieved the first 1,00,000 unit sales of the Nexon, while the same milestone for the Punch was reached in August 2022. By December 2023, Tata had shipped 6,00,000 units of the Nexon and 3,00,000 units of the Punch.
The Tata Nexon got its second and most thorough update in 2023 with a fresh exterior design front and rear along with an upgraded cabin layout and new features These include dual 10.25-inch displays (one for infotainment and the other for the digital driver’s display), a 9-speaker JBL sound system, a 360-degree camera, and six airbags. It gets a choice of 1.2-litre turbo-petrol and 1.5-litre diesel engines, with the former available with 4 transmission options depending on the variant.
The Nexon EV underwent similar design and feature updates, marking its first major refresh alongside the facelifted Nexon in 2023. Notably, it now includes the larger 12.3-inch touchscreen unit borrowed from the new Harrier-Safari duo and boasts a claimed range of up to 465 km.

At the beginning of this year, we saw the long-awaited launch of the Tata Punch EV, showcasing design and styling aligned with the refreshed Tata SUVs. It comes equipped with features such as a 10.25-inch touchscreen, a 360-degree camera, and ventilated front seats. The Punch EV delivers a range of up to 421 km. Meanwhile, the standard Punch is scheduled for a facelift, with Tata already conducting tests in preparation for its expected launch in 2025.
Pricing-wise, the Tata Nexon ranges from Rs 8.15 lakh to Rs 15.80 lakh (ex-showroom), while the Nexon EV starts at Rs 14.74 lakh and goes up to Rs 19.99 lakh (ex-showroom). It rivals the likes of the Kia Sonet, Maruti Brezza, and Hyundai Venue, while its EV counterpart rivals the Mahindra XUV400.
Conversely, the Punch is priced between Rs 6.13 lakh and Rs 10.20 lakh (ex-showroom), while the Punch EV is priced between Rs 10.99 lakh and Rs 15.49 lakh (ex-showroom). The Punch locks horns with the Hyundai Exter, whereas the Punch EV rivals the Citroen eC3.
