You pay more and you get more! But what are the extra features and how much costlier is the Syros? Let’s find out!

Essentially, both Kia Syros and Skoda Kylaq are subcompact SUVs and belong to the same segment. However, both these SUVs cater to a slightly different audience and have different purposes. The Syros is an SUV which is loaded to the brim with features that will make you feel like you are in a much more expensive car, whereas the Kylaq is oriented towards a much suave audience.

In this article, we take you through the features that the Syros get over the Kylaq and the difference in the pricing of their top-spec variants giving you an idea of the extra amount you will be paying if features are your priority.

Let’s first take a look at the 10 extra features:

Larger Displays

The Kia Syros gets larger dual 12.3-inch displays including the touchscreen infotainment system and the digital driver’s display. The Kylaq on the other hand, comes with a 10-inch infotainment unit and an 8-inch digital driver’s display. Both SUVs get necessary features like wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay and connected car tech features.

Along with the dual screens, the Syros also gets a small 5-inch display for climate control making it a 30-inch screen combined display that adds a nice modern feel inside the cabin.

Level-2 ADAS

An enhanced safety kit that has gained popularity in recent times! Advanced Driver Assistance Systems, or ADAS is offered with the Syros. Its level-2 ADAS comes with features like automatic emergency braking, lane keep assist and lane departure warning. The Kylaq or even the larger Kushaq miss out on this feature. You won’t really need the feature in city driving conditions, but it comes in handy on highways where the lanes are marked.

Multi-colour Ambient Lighting

Both SUVs get ambient lighting, but the Kia SUV comes with multi-colour ambient lighting giving buyers a range of customization options that can be set according to their taste.

Electronic Parking Brake With Auto Hold

A feature which adds to the feel-good factor of the Syros’ cabin. Additionally, it also makes using the handbrake while stopping at signals or parking a slightly easier task. The Kylaq gets a manual handbrake which gives a more old-school feel in the modern era.

Sliding And Reclining Rear Seats

The Kylaq offers the second-largest wheelbase in the segment, just behind the Mahindra XUV 3XO. However, it is the Syros which offers the more spacious rear seat experience and credit can be given to its sliding and reclining seats feature. It lets the rear passenger adjust his or her legroom at their convenience.

Ventilated Rear Seats

New features in a segment are always welcome and make the SUV stand out! The Syros gets a segment-first ventilated rear seat function which adds to the comfort and provides extra cooling to the passengers. The Kylaq on the other hand, only gets front-ventilated seats. Both come with rear AC vents.

Front And Side Parking Sensors

The Syros gets front, rear and side parking sensors, while the Kylaq only gets rear parking sensors. The extra sensors help in parking and in traffic conditions where obstacles and vehicles might come in close proximity to the vehicle.

Panoramic Sunroof

A premium feature which adds a nice touch to the interior of any SUV. The Kylaq gets a regular sing-pane sunroof, while the Syros comes with a panoramic sunroof. The panoramic unit allows more light to enter inside, gives a more airy feeling and also complements the premiumness of the Syros’ cabin.

More Speakers

This one's for the audiophiles out there. The Syros comes with as many as 8 speakers  (Harman Kardon), while the Kylaq comes with 6 speakers which will make your auditory experience much better.

A 360-degree Camera

If sensors at all places were not enough, you can also see the surroundings of your SUV on the large 12.3-inch infotainment display as the Syros gets a 360-degree camera giving you a crisp view of what’s around the SUV. The Kylaq only gets a reverse parking camera.

Kia Syros and Skoda Kylaq: Price

The Kia Syros is priced from Rs 9 lakh to Rs 17.79 lakh (ex-showroom), while the Kylaq is priced from Rs 7.89 lakh to Rs 14.4 lakh. As you can see, there is a difference of almost 3 lakhs between the top-spec variants.

So, that’s where the catch is. Even though both SUVs belong to the same segment, the Syros is pricier. However, if you are someone who prioritizes features and spending the extra Rs 2 to 3 lakh won’t hurt your pocket, then you could consider picking the Syros!
