The Mahindra Scorpio N is making strides on foreign soil and giving the people responsible for it to be something to be proud of, if they weren’t already. The India-made SUV went on a challenging task of conquering the Simpson Desert in Australia and came out on top as the fastest production vehicle to scale it. Take a look at it bashing through the sand dunes of Australia for yourself:
R Velusamy, President - Automotive Technology and Product Development, Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd., said, “We are immensely proud to share that our iconic SUV, the Scorpio-N has made its mark in the GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS™ title for the "Fastest crossing of the Simpson Desert by a production vehicle".
Its accomplishment got recorded in the Guinness Book Of World Records for ‘’Fastest crossing of the Simpson Desert by a production vehicle". The expedition, which stretched across 385kms in 13 hours, saw the SUV go over 1100 parallel sand dunes, while sustaining the harsh peak temperatures of 50-degree Celsius outside the vehicle.
Behind the wheel were co-drivers Gene Corbett (Total Driver) and Ben Robinson (4WD Industries), who piloted the Scorpio N starting from Birdsville at the crack of dawn. The journey took them over the grueling terrain including salt flats situated 20 meters above sea level and constantly evolving landscapes and sceneries. Less than 13 hours and a whole lotta challenges later, their journey concluded at Alkaseltzer Bore.
For such a challenging task, the model used was never in doubt. Correct, it in fact was the four-wheel drive-equipped Mahindra Scoprio N, which can only be had with its 175 PS 2.2-litre diesel engine.

Even closer to home, the Scorpio N is hitting milestones as just recently, the SUV hit the 9 lakh production mark, further cementing its popularity, which has been prominent in India for over two decades now. Mahindra retails the Scorpio N between Rs 13.05 lakh and Rs 24.51 lakh (ex-showroom). It is a rival to the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Volkswagen Taigun and the MG Hector.
