Hero has filed a design patent for a new streetfighter bike. From the looks of it, it is a 200cc bike, likely to be called the Xtreme 200R.
It will most likely be based on the same platform as Hero’s lovely 200cc platform that currently powers the Xpulse 200 and 200T. It is likely to get the same engine too – a 199.6cc single-cylinder air-/oil-cooled engine. In the XPulse 200 twins, it makes 19.1PS and 17.35Nm. However, we expect a slightly different tuning in the naked bike.
In terms of appearance, the illustration in the design patent presents an aggressive styling with sharp edges, similar to the Xtreme 160R, but more muscular. The exhaust, in particular, looks similar to the one in the XPulse 200T 4V. One can also see LED indicators, and expect the headlight and tail light to be LED units as well. The wide handlebar and single-piece seat suggests a fairly comfortable riding stance without being too sporty. Interestingly, while the XPulse 200 twins have petal discs, this one gets conventional circular rotors.
With the upcoming Xtreme 200R, Hero will have an offering to go up against the popular 200cc naked bike segment which includes the likes of TVS Apache RTR 200 4V, Honda Hornet 2.0 and Bajaj Pulsar NS200.
Expect Hero to launch the Xtreme 200R sometime early next year with an expected price of Rs 1.35 lakh ex-showroom.
