The first half of 2024 has been exciting in the Indian car market wiith plenty of new launches. . Until now, we have seen different types of cars introduced, including SUVs, hatchbacks and some EVs. Even more good news is that we have many more exciting upcoming cars in 2024.

But in this report, let’s take a recap and look at the top 10 cars launched in 2024:

Hyundai Creta Facelift and Creta N Line 

Creta Price: Rs 10.99 to Rs 20.14 lakh (ex-showroom)

Creta N Line Price: Rs 16.82 - 20.44 Lakh (ex-showroom)

The Hyundai Creta, which is an iconic nameplate in India, went through a facelift and also got an N Line version in 2024. Hyundai first launched the standard version of the Creta facelift in January, followed by the N Line in March. The facelifted Creta received a completely fresh look over its predecessor, and also got a more premium looking cabin with a host of new features over the outgoing model. The Creta N Line is the sportier iteration of the standard Creta  with sportier styling and mechanical tweaks. 

Hyundai Creta

The features on the Creta facelift include a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system which comes with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a 10.25-inch digital driver's display, ventilated front seats, a dual-zone climate control, cruise control, Bose sound system and a panoramic sunroof.

In terms of safety, it gets six airbags, ABS with EBD, a 360-degree camera, front and rear parking sensors, and electronic stability control. It also gets level-2 Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) features like blind-spot detection, forward collision avoidance assist, and rear collision avoidance assist. 

The standard Creta can be had with three engines, including a 115 PS and 144 Nm 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol, a 1.5-litre turbo-petrol making 160 PS and 253 Nm and a 1.5-litre diesel which produces 116 PS and 250 Nm. Transmission options include a 6-speed manual, a 7-speed DCT, a 6-speed AT, and a CVT gearbox. The Creta N Line gets the 1.5-litre turbo-petrol engine with the option of a 6-speed manual gearbox as well. 

Kia Sonet Facelift 

Price: Rs 7.99 lakh to Rs 15.74 lakh (ex-showroom)

Kia India launched the facelifted version of the Sonet in India from Rs 7.99 lakh (ex-showroom). The Sonet has been on sale in India since 2020, and this was the first update it received since its inception. It got a refreshed design, plenty of new features and more powertrain options to choose from.

The features available on the 2024 Sonet include a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system that offers Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a fully digital driver’s display, cruise control, a 7-speaker Bose sound system, connected car tech, ventilated front seats, automatic headlights, a sunroof, and keyless entry with push-button start. 

In terms of safety, it gets ADAS, six airbags, ABS with EBD, electronic stability control, a 360-degree camera, a tyre pressure monitoring system, front and rear parking sensors. 

The subcompact SUV comes with three engine options: a 83 PS 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol, a 116 PS 1.5-litre diesel and a 120 PS 1-litre turbo-petrol. Transmission options include a 5-speed manual, 6-speed manual, 6-speed clutchless manual, a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic and a 6-speed torque converter depending on the engine you pick. 

Tata Punch EV

Price: Rs 10.99 lakh to Rs 15.48 lakh (ex-showroom)

Tata Motors launched the Punch EV, starting from Rs 10.99 lakh (ex-showroom). It is the first Tata EV to be made on the Acti.ev pure electric vehicle platform. It is available in five broad trims and two powertrain options. It also received exterior and interior changes to make it stand apart from the ICE version.

The Punch EV comes with many features, including a 10.25-inch digital driver’s display, a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, automatic climate control, ventilated front seats, a sunroof,  wireless phone charger, and keyless entry with push-button start/stop.

Safety is taken care of by six airbags, ABS with EBD, electronic stability control, an electronic parking brake with auto hold, and a 360-degree camera with parking sensors.

The Punch EV comes with two powertrain options: a 25 kWh battery pack teamed with a  82 PS and 114 Nm e-motor, a 35 kWh battery pack paired with an electric motor making 122 PS and 190 Nm. The smaller battery pack offers an ARAI-claimed range of 315 km, while the larger battery pack delivers a claimed range of 421 km.

BYD Seal 

Price: Rs 41 lakh to Rs 53 lakh (ex-showroom)

BYD launched its third all-electric offering on our shores, the Seal. The Seal sedan comes in three broad variants with multiple battery pack options that can be had with a single or dual motors. The three variants are: Dynamic Range, Premium Range and Performance.

The BYD Seal has a feature-loaded cabin that comes with a large 15.6-inch touchscreen screen that can be rotated. Other features include wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a panoramic glass roof, a DynaAudio sound system, electronically heated ORVMs, a heads-up display, and heated and ventilated front seats.

Safety features include 9 airbags, ISOFIX child seat mounts, front and rear parking sensors with 360 degree camera, traction control system, and a host of  ADAS features.

The three variants come with different powertrains – the entry-level Dynamic Range which has a 61.4 kWh battery pack and a 204 PS and 310 Nm single rear-drive electric motor, and is stated to have a 510 km range. Then we have the Premium Range, which has an 82.5 kWh battery pack and a 313 PS and 360 Nm single rear-drive electric motor that together offer a claimed range of 650 km. The Performance trim has an 82.5 kWh battery pack as well, but it is teamed with two electric motors (all-wheel drive) that produce an impressive 560 PS and 670 Nm. The performance variant offers a claimed range of 580 km. 

Toyota Taisor 

Price: Rs 7.74 lakh to Rs 13.03 lakh (ex-showroom)

Toyota India launched the Taisor, which is essentially a rebadged version of the Maruti Fronx crossover. It is available with three engine options and 5 trims to choose from. To set it apart from the Fronx, it gets a tweaked design for the exterior.

The features list includes a 9-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, automatic climate control,a wireless phone charger, steering-mounted audio controls, cruise control, a heads-up display and a multi-information coloured display with analogue dials. 

In terms of safety. It is equipped with up to six airbags, ABS with EBD, rear parking sensors, electronic stability control, and a 360-degree camera system.

The powertrain options include a 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine making 90 PS and 113 Nm, and a more powerful 1-litre turbo-petrol engine producing 100 PS and 148 Nm. It also gets a factory-fitted CNG kit with the 1.2-litre engine producing 77 PS and 98 Nm. Transmission options include a 5-speed manual as standard, 5-speed AMT for the naturally aspirated petrol and a 6-speed torque converter for the turbo-petrol variant.

Mahindra XUV 3XO (XUV300 Facelift)

Price: Rs 7.49 lakh to Rs 15.49 lakh (ex-showroom)

Mahindra launched the XUV 3XO, which is basically the facelifted version of the XUV300 that has received a complete design overhaul, a new cabin (similar to the XUV400 EV) and plenty of new features. It comes in nine broad trims and three different engine options to choose from. It offers a few segment-first features as well, which make it one of the most exciting offerings in the segment. 

Mahindra XUV 3XO

The features list includes a floating 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a segment-first panoramic sunroof, a 7-speaker Harman Kardon audio system, a dual-zone climate control, a 10.25-inch digital driver’s display, rear AC vents, and a wireless phone charger. 

The safety kit consists of 6 airbags, Level-2 ADAS, a 360-degree camera, ABS with EBD, electronic stability control, 3-point seatbelts with reminder for all occupants, and ISOFIX child seat mounts.

The XUV 3XO is powered by three engines, including two turbo-petrol engines and a diesel engine. The options include a 1.2-litre turbo-petrol engine making 110 PS, a 1.2-litre T-GDI turbo-petrol engine producing 130 PS, and a 1.5-litre diesel engine generating 117 PS. Transmission options include a standard 6-speed manual, an optional 6-speed torque converter for the petrols and 6-speed AMT for the diesel.

Jeep Wrangler Facelift 

Price: Rs 67.65 lakh to Rs 71.65 lakh (ex-showroom)

Jeep launched the 2024 Wrangler facelift in India, priced from Rs 67.65 lakh (ex-showroom). The facelifted Wrangler gets minor design changes, an updated interior with more features, and enhanced off-road-ready technology making it a more capable off-roader on paper. Internationally, it also gets a hybrid powertrain and more powerful engines, while the Indian version retains the same 2-litre turbo-petrol engine option. 

2024 Jeep Wrangler

The updated Wrangler comes with a 12.3-inch infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, wireless phone charging, heated steering wheel and heated front seats, a premium 9-speaker Alpine sound system, 12-way powered front-row seats, 12V charging sockets, 60:40 split rear seats, a 7-inch multi-info display, keyless entry and push button start/stop function, and a dual-zone climate control. 

Safety is taken care of by a range of Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) features, six airbags, ABS with Electronic Brakeforce Distribution (EBD), electronic stability control, hill start and hill hold assist, an integrated off-road camera, adaptive cruise control and a tyre pressure monitoring system. 

The 2024 Wrangler is equipped with a 2-litre turbo-petrol engine producing 270 PS and 400 Nm paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission. It gets a host of off-road features like locking differentials, a low-range transfer case and multiple driving modes. 

New Maruti Suzuki Swift 

Price: Rs 6.49 lakh to Rs 9.64 lakh (ex-showroom)

Maruti Suzuki launched the new-generation Swift in May 2024, priced from Rs 6.49 lakh (ex-showroom). It features a refreshed design, an overhauled cabin with more features and a new petrol engine, which offers a higher fuel efficiency over the outgoing model.

The Swift comes with many features, including a 9-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a 4.2-inch coloured multi-info display, 6 speakers, rear AC vents, a wireless phone charger, cruise control, automatic climate control, and keyless entry with push-button start-stop. 

In terms of safety, it gets six airbags (as standard), ABS with EBD, electronic stability program with hill start assist, and a rear parking camera with sensors.

The 2024 Swift is powered by a new 1.2-litre 3-cylinder petrol engine which makes 82 PS and 112 Nm. It is paired with either a 5-speed manual or a 5-speed AMT transmission. It offers a claimed efficiency of 24.8 kmpl with the manual and 25.75kmpl with the AMT.

Force Gurkha 5-door and Updated Gurkha 3-door 

Gurkha 3-door price: 16.75 lakh (ex-showroom) 

Gurkha 5-door price: Rs 18 lakh (ex-showroom) 

Force Motors finally launched the awaited 5-door version of the Gurkha and an updated version of the 3-door version. Both the new Gurkhas come with new features and a more powerful engine than before. 

Force Gurkha Facelift

Features offered on the Gurkha include a 9-inch touchscreen infotainment screen with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a 7-inch digital driver's display, manual AC controls, tilt and telescopic steering wheel, and central remote locking. For better off-roading prowess, it comes with an air-intake snorkel as standard. 

Safety features include front airbags ABS with EBD, a reverse camera with parking sensors, and a tyre pressure monitoring system.

The off-roader is powered by a 2.6-liter diesel engine producing 140 PS and 320 Nm , which is paired with a 5-speed manual transmission. It gets a four-wheel drivetrain with shift-on-the-fly function and manual differential locking for both front and rear axles. 

Tata Altroz Racer

Price: Rs 9.49 lakh to Rs 10.99 lakh (ex-showroom)

The Altroz Racer is the sportier version of the premium hatchback and is priced from Rs 9.49 lakh (ex-showroom). It is Tata’s i20 N Line rival and offers a sportier look for both the exterior as well as the interior. It also comes with a more powerful engine borrowed from the Nexon. It is available in three broad variants: R1, R2 and R3 and three colours to choose from. 

Tata Altroz Racer

The Altroz Racer gets a host of features, including a couple of new ones. The features include a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system which supports wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a 7-inch digital driver’s display, a sunroof, ventilated front seats, 8-speaker Harman Kardon premium sound system, a wireless phone charger and ambient lighting.

Keeping you safe are the 6 airbags that are offered as standard, ABS, EBD, electronic stability control, rear parking sensors, ISOFIX child seat mounts and a 360-degree camera.

The Racer version of the Altroz is powered by a 1.2-litre turbo-petrol engine which makes 120 PS and 170 Nm. The hatchback can only be had with a 6-speed manual transmission for now, and we expect Tata to bring in an automatic transmission in the future.
