Welcome to our list of the top five motorcycles launched in India this year, a year that witnessed some exciting new releases from motorcycle manufacturers around the world. So without further ado, let's get started!
Royal Enfield Hunter 350
The most anticipated launch this year was by far the Royal Enfield Hunter 350. It’s Enfield’s most affordable offering at a starting price of Rs 1,49,900 (ex-showroom). It’s targeted towards the younger generation and features styling cues that screams modern with retro elements like a circular headlight, rear-view mirrors, taillight and turn indicators.
The price and the entire package make the Hunter 350 a compelling option. One that’s bound to rake in the numbers for the Chennai-based two-wheeler manufacturer. You can read our full review of the bike here.
Bajaj Pulsar N160
Bajaj’s stable produced a delightful little sporty commuter in the form of the Pulsar N160. It takes its design cues from its quarter-litre siblings but gets an all-new engine and good-spec underpinnings to match its sporty performance.
We put the bike through its paces and it came out with flying colours. Its smooth ride and tractable engine characteristics are perfect for those crazy rides home from work. A very promising Pulsar, in our opinion, and one that continues the legacy of the Pulsar 180 in a competitive segment. More on the N160 here.
Yamaha MT-15 V2
For 2022, Yamaha finally updated the MT-15 with a fatter 37mm USD fork, cast aluminium swingarm, revised digital instrument cluster with Bluetooth connectivity and of course new colours. It does miss out on dual-channel ABS, traction control and quick shifter – features that are available in the Yamaha R15 V4.
That said, the updates do make a difference. It makes the MT-15 look more premium, and handle better; and the few new features are a welcomed addition. Overall it’s a much better version of the older bike and addresses many of its shortcomings.
KTM RC 390
KTM finally revamped the KTM RC 390 eight years after it was first launched in India. It’s an all-new machine featuring a new aerodynamic design, revised chassis, better features, revised ergos, a larger fuel tank and a refined engine borrowed from its naked sibling, the 390 Duke.
But what we loved is how all these changes translated to it being a much better bike than before. It’s comfortable too and can be used as your daily runner. The larger fuel tank means fewer fuel stops. And the host of electronic rider aids translates to a much safer ride.
Sure, the design may not be to everyone’s liking but it grows on you the more time you spend with it. In our opinion, it’s one heck of a bike. Our full track review is available here.
Ducati DesertX
Ducati’s most serious adventure bike almost didn’t make the list, as the DesertX arrived pretty late in the year. Yes, it does carry a high price tag, one that eclipses the Multistrada V2’s S trim as well. However, this pin-up poster machine is nothing short of desirable and one that can actually take you places where the Multistrada would hesitate. Check out more details on this big ADV here.
And there you have it – our list of the top five motorcycles launched in 2022. We hope you enjoyed reading about these exciting bikes and found something that caught your eye.
