Our favourite picks from the beginner performance segment

A lot of launches and reveals will be happening at the Bharat Mobility Expo 2025, and here are our top 5 picks from the bikes side of things, in the sub-300cc segment:

Hero XPulse 210

The XPulse 210 with its 210cc engine, derived from the Karizma XMR 210, and a frame derived from the XPulse 200 4V, promises an upgraded experience for those who felt the 200cc engine was a bit underpowered for highway usage. The expected pricing is in the Rs 1.90 lakh ballpark.

TVS Apache RTX 300

TVS is finally entering the adventure motorcycle segment, and the Apache RTX 300 is poised to offer a fresh, exciting option for riders looking for a performance-packed adventure bike. With a new 300cc liquid-cooled engine that makes 35PS, typical adventure bike styling, and features like a TFT display, the RTX 300 is a highly anticipated model that combines practicality and advanced tech. This bike marks a significant step for TVS in the adventure motorcycle market.

The Karizma 250 is set to carry forward the legacy of the iconic Karizma nameplate, from the Karizma 210. Its new 250cc engine generates 30PS and 25Nm, coupled with design inspired by the Karizma XMR 210, will appeal to riders who want a fully-faired bike that can handle both daily commutes and longer trips with ease. While the official launch is expected later, the Karizma 250 promises to be a strong contender in the mid-range segment, offering both performance and efficiency.

2025 Bajaj Pulsar RS200

The Pulsar RS200 is Bajaj’s only fully-faired sports bike, and it just got its first design update since its original launch 10 years ago, in 2015. The overall design of this Pulsar remains mostly the same, with Bajaj making changes only to its tail-light styling and it receiving 3 new colour schemes. Mechanically speaking, it now finally also gets a slipper-clutch, but the power and torque figures still remain the same at 24.8PS and 18.7Nm.

Hero Xtreme 250

The Xtreme 250 is the streetfighter version of the Karizma 250, for those riders who want the same performance but with a more comfortable, upright seating posture and no fairing. The Hero Xtreme 250 is designed for everyday riding while still offering enough performance for weekend thrills. Its expected price point of Rs 2.25 lakh (ex-showroom) will make it a competitive option in the growing mid-range naked bike segment in India.

ZigSays

These bikes are our top picks because the sub-300cc segment is seeing a lot of interest from buyers currently, the sales of other bikes in this class also reflects the same. These motorcycles offer the best combination of performance and still being relatively light on the pocket to run and maintain. Also, this segment is for both: people looking for their second bike, looking to upgrade from a 100-150cc and also for people returning to riding after a break.
