The Toyota Fortuner GR Sport Is On Its Way For An India Launch

The Toyota Fortuner GR Sport is headed to our shores. It will be the pole sitter in the Fortuner lineup and get a host of cosmetic enhancements for a meaner look. So without wasting any time, let’s see what this variant packs for you.

GR Sport is a sporty theme in Toyota’s speak, and the Fortuner GR Sport looks a whole lot more aggressive with its design changes. Up front, the SUV gets a honeycomb mesh grille, flanked by the Legender’s LED headlights. But it’s the aggressively styled bumpers that make this machine look a whole lot meaner. On the side, you get blacked out alloy wheels, while a faux diffuser in the rear bumper rounds things off.  

Inside, the dashboard design and layout is identical to the standard car, albeit in an all-black avatar with tastefully done red stitching. Plus, it gets a GR Sport badging on the steering wheel. When it comes to engine options, the Fortuner GR Sport will get the same 204PS 2.8-litre diesel mill, paired with either a 6-speed manual or automatic transmission. Plus, we hope Toyota offers the choice of rear-wheel and all-wheel drive options. 

The Fortuner GR Sport will be the flagship variant when it goes on sale and is expected to be costlier than the already pricey Legender, priced from Rs 40.91 lakh (ex-showroom). At these prices, the Fortuner will be squaring off against the MG Gloster, Skoda Kodiaq as well as luxury SUVs like the BMW X1 and Mercedes-Benz GLA.
