Quick News Highlights:
- Triumph could launch two new motorcycles by this year’s festive season
- One of them could be the Triumph Thruxton 440
- This means more affordable options will be available to choose from the British manufacturer’s lineup
It seems we’ll be greeted by new 400cc Triumph motorcycles during this festive season (October - November 2024). According to reports published online, the British manufacturer is planning to expand its affordable bikes’ lineup in India this year with two new models.
This is somewhat similar to what Rajiv Bajaj, Managing Director of Bajaj Auto, said a few months back about Triumph’s plans for India. He said that the British manufacturer will launch a new motorcycle this year and will continue to do that every year for the next 3 years. Now, regarding the upcoming bikes, we think one of them will be the Triumph Thruxton 400 as it has been spotted testing already. It gets cafe racer styling, a frame-mounted half-fairing around the headlight and the windshield, clip-on handlebars, bar-end mirrors and rear-set footpegs. The front fender is longer than that of the Triumph Speed 400 and the Triumph Scrambler 400 X and the cafe racer gets a metal bash plate. The rest of the bike looks very similar to the Speed 400 and is powered by the same 398.15cc, liquid-cooled, single-cylinder engine producing 40PS at 8000rpm and 37.5Nm at 6500rpm. Its pricing is expected to be similar to the Rs 2.62 lakh (ex-showroom) price of the Triumph Scrambler 400 X.

Triumph could launch both faired and un-faired versions of the Thruxton 400 based on the 400cc platform during this festive season. Regarding the second bike, not much information is available as of now. Whether it’ll be a Triumph Speedmaster 400 or something else entirely remains to be seen. If Triumph manages to stick to its plans of launching two new motorcycles this year and a new one every year for the next 3 years, then it’ll be able to provide various different options to its customers who’d want the chance to own a Triumph but at an affordable price point. This will give the British manufacturer a certain edge over its rivals who have entered the sub-450cc retro roadster segment with one motorcycle and the plans surrounding their future offerings are not known till now.
