After the success of the Trident 660, Triumph India is all set to ride in the Tiger Sport 660 tomorrow. The adventure sports tourer will lock horns with the Kawasaki Versys 650, the British bike, around Rs 8.50 lakh (ex-showroom), arriving at a slight premium over the Kwacker.
It wouldn’t be fair to say that the Tiger Sport 660 is merely just the Trident with adventure clothing. Triumph might’ve retained the 660cc triple in an identical tune of 81PS and 64Nm, tubular steel perimeter frame, 17-inch alloy wheels and Michelin Road 5 tyres, but quite a lot of tinkering has been done to suit the genre.
Firstly, the suspension travel has gone up at both ends, making it more suitable for touring. The rake has been sharpened and the wheelbase has gone up. The fuel tank can hold 17.2 litres, 3.2 litres more than the naked. The adventure clothing and extra knick knacks makes the Tiger Sport 17 kilos heavier than the Trident.
We should be checking out the Tiger Sport 660 soon. Stay tuned to the website for more details.
