Triumph Motorcycles has launched the all-new Triumph Tiger Sport 800 internationally. This new sports touring bike is positioned right above the currently available Triumph Tiger Sport 660 and features a new, more powerful engine. Here’s everything you need to know.
The new Tiger Sport 800 offers a similar design as its smaller capacity sibling, the Tiger Sport 660. It gets a sharp headlight design and fairings, combined with a tall windshield. The bike features a large tank as well which gives it a serious tourer look. Overall, the bike looks quite big from the front section and manages to grab attention. But moving to the rear, the bike has a sleeker profile, with a long single piece seat and a sharp looking tail light.
Coming to the performance, the new Tiger Sport 800 gets a 798cc, liquid-cooled, inline 3 cylinder engine which outputs 115PS at 10,750rpm and 83Nm at 8,500rpm. For perspective, the Triumph Tiger 850 Sport was powered by a 888cc, liquid-cooled, inline 3 cylinder engine which produced 85PS at 8,500rpm and 82Nm at 6,500rpm.
So overall, the Sport 800 produces 30PS and 1Nm more. This additional power and torque is produced at the higher end of the rev-range. This is something a lot of riders who are looking for an authentic sports tourer experience will appreciate.
The Tiger Sport 800 features a suspension setup that comprises a fully-adjustable 41mm Showa inverted fork with adjustable compression and rebound damping, and a Showa monoshock with adjustable rebound, damping and preload.
The bike rolls on 17-inch alloy wheels, with 120-section front and 180-section rear tyres. Braking setup consists of twin 310mm front and a single 255mm rear disc.
Features wise, the bike offers a LCD console with an integrated TFT screen. The console offers readouts like speed, fuel level, tachometer readings, odometer and trip meter readings.
The bike also gets electronic riding aids such as 3 riding modes: Rain, Road and Sport, cornering ABS, switchable traction control and cruise control.
The Triumph Tiger Sport 800 is sold in the UK at a price of GBP 10,995, which is around Rs 12 lakh (without any duties and taxes). Currently, the Triumph Tiger 850 Sport has been removed from the Triumph India website, and this could mean that the brand plans on launching the new Tiger Sport 800 in India in the near future.
