Update: Turns out, it's not the Hero Xtreme 200R but is in fact, the Karizma XMR 210. You can read all about it in our report here.
Just a week ago we reported that Hero has filed a design patent for a 200cc naked bike, which is most likely to be the Xtreme 200R. And now the test mule of the bike has been spied on for the very first time.
Going by what we can see, the upcoming bike takes slight design inspiration from its younger sibling, the Xtreme 160R. However, it sports a sleeker and narrow LED taillight and a tail section which looks slightly raised. While it also gets split grab rails, the LED indicators are slimmer when compared with the ones on the Xtreme 160R. The front design of the bike is not visible, but expect it to sport an aggressive styling with sharp edges as well as an LED headlight, as seen on the patent images.
The distinguishing feature of the test mule is the long, upswept exhaust which is seemingly borrowed from the XPulse 200T. In terms of specifications, the Xtreme 200R is likely to be powered by the same 199.6cc single-cylinder air-/oil-cooled engine from the XPulse twins. The engine produces 19.1PS and 17.35Nm on the twins, however, expect it to sport a slightly different tune on the naked.
A camouflaged Hero Xtreme 160R was spied along with the 200R. It was also spotted a while back and you can head here for more details on that. Along with a bunch of functional upgrades, it will mostly get the BS6.2 emission compliance as well.
Hero is likely to launch the Xtreme 200R sometime early next year with an expected price tag of Rs 1.35 lakh ex-showroom.
With the Xtreme 200R, Hero will finally have a product to compete in the popular 200cc naked bike segment with the TVS Apache RTR 200 4V, Honda Hornet 2.0 and Bajaj Pulsar NS200.
