The festive season was absolutely cracking with several launches, but the home run for this year seems to be rather chill with only a couple of bikes coming to our shores this month. Take a look at what’s on the menu this month:
The BMW S 1000 RR received its last major update only back in 2019, and for 2023, it looks even meaner than before, with a redesigned front, complete with WSBK-inspired winglets for better downforce. The updated supersport will be unveiled at the India Bike Week.
The S 1000 RR was already an easy bike to ride with smooth power delivery. But now, BMW has tweaked the inline-four motor for slightly extra firepower, and the company claims the usable powerband is wider and even more wholesome.
It produces 209.38PS, up by 2.72PS, while the peak torque, at 113Nm, remains the same. The electronics package also comes with the new Slide Control Function and Brake Slide Assist along with other existing nannies including four riding modes, cornering traction control, four-mode cornering ABS with brake slide assist, and hill start control among others.
The chassis (steering head angle and offset of the triple clamps) has also been slightly tweaked for better feedback up front. Oh, and the 2023 model also comes three new swanky colour schemes. BMW Motorrad will launch the bike later this month, and it could be priced at around Rs 1.5 lakh over the current model, which retails from Rs 19,75,000 (ex-showroom India).
Hero has been teasing the XPulse 200T 4V for quite some time now. The bike was also spied earlier too. The 2V variant already looked retro, and Hero will refresh the design with a flyscreen and fork gaiters, along with some new colour schemes. It will be powered by the XPulse 200 4V’s air-oil-cooled engine that churns out 19.1PS and 17.35Nm in the off-roader. Expect the output figures to be more or less the same in the road-biased bike, but the engine might run a different tune.
Even though the underpinnings might remain the same, we hope Hero tweaks the suspension setup as the current bike is set on the firmer side. Expect the premium to be around Rs 6,000 over the current generation model which retails at Rs 1,24,396 (ex-showroom Delhi).
Even though there are not many launches as such, this month still has some interesting stuff lined up. We’lll have exciting updates from IBW, so stay tuned. We will get to ride the new Bajaj Pulsar P150 and possibly, the new Matter electric motorcycle as well. Oh, and bookings for the Super Meteor 650 will also begin this month, and the bike will be launched in January next year.
