Could be launched in India in the next few months
The upcoming Triumph Thruxton 400 has been spotted testing in India. It’s a cafe racer from the British manufacturer in the 400cc segment.
Judging by the spy shots we have seen so far, it is clear that Triumph has gone all in with the cafe racer styling. It gets a retro-esqe bikini fairing as well as low-slung clip-on handlebars. The fairing is the first thing which catches your attention, but Triumph has also made a few other changes as well. It includes the addition of a different looking tail-section when compared to the other bikes in the 400cc lineup. The new tail section looks a bit bigger, with a new tail light.
The Triumph Thruxton 400 will be powered by the same 398.15cc, liquid-cooled, single-cylinder engine as the Triumph Speed 400 and the Triumph Scrambler 400 X. The engine produces 40PS and 37.5Nm in the Speed 400, though we could see some changes to the tuning in the cafe racer. It will also share a lot of parts in common with the Speed 400.
The bike will have a suspension setup of an inverted fork and monoshock, and will roll on 17-inch alloys at both ends. We expect the bike to come with Vredestein tyres as well, similar to the Triumph Speed 400. Braking duties will be taken care of by a 300mm front and 230mm rear disc brake setup, with dual-channel ABS as standard.
Features-wise, the Thruxton 400 will likely have the same semi-digital instrument console as the Speed 400 and the Scrambler 400 X. The console has an analogue speedometer along with a LED screen which offers gear-position, tachometer, fuel gauge, odometer and tripmeter readouts among others.
The Thruxton 400 will likely be launched sometime in the first half of 2025. The bike is expected to be positioned between the Triumph Speed 400 and the Triumph Scrambler 400 X in the manufacturer’s lineup. So, it could be priced somewhere around the 2.50 lakh mark ex-showroom.
We are really excited for the Triumph Thruxton 400, as it will be a proper cafe racer style motorcycle. Triumph had earlier announced that it will be discontinuing the Triumph Thruxton 1200 globally, and the brand had also released a final edition of the same. With the launch of the Thruxton 400, we can be rest assured that the Thruxton name will live on.
