From the Yezdis and the Tork Kratos to the Ducati Scrambler Tribute 1100 Pro and the Triumph Tiger Sport 660, the first quarter of the year has brought forth a bunch of new bikes. The theme continues this month with five enticing motorcycles headed our way.
2022 KTM RC 390
While the new RC 200 and the RC 125 are already out on Indian roads, there’s still no signs of the bigger sibling. However, KTM has homologated the 2022 RC 390 in India so we expect the bike to launch this month. We have already seen what the lighter components and the changes to the engine resulted in the new RC 200, and given the manic performance of the 373cc unit, we wait to see what the new 390 has to offer.
2022 KTM 390 Adventure
Another orange beast headed our way this month is the updated 390 Adventure. The bike has already started arriving at dealerships, so it won’t be long before you can buy yourself one. The spy shot revealed that KTM has skimped out on the adjustable suspension, so the only changes that the new model gets is the new paint job, reinforced alloy wheels, and new two-level traction control.
2022 Yamaha MT-15
A leaked dealer invite, a drop in sales and production and leaked type-approval documents, all hint towards the fact that the Japanese bikemaker is gearing up to introduce the naked in an updated guise.
Expect the 2022 Yamaha MT-15 to get USD fork, dual-channel ABS and Bluetooth connectivity derived from the Yamaha R15 V4. However, bits like traction control, and the quickshifter will be skipped to save costs.
Ducati Multistrada V2
Next up on the Italian manufacturer’s list for the Indian market is the Multistrada V2. The new ADV might seem like a rebadged Multistrada 950, but there’s a lot more to it than what meets the eye. For starters, ergonomics have been altered, with a 10mm lower seat height and footpegs.
While it still uses the same 937cc L-twin motor as the Multistrada 950, it is now lighter and gets an updated gearbox and clutch. It puts out 114PS and 94Nm, 2Nm less than before. However, peak torque now kicks in 1,000rpm earlier.
The new Multi will arrive in two variants– Standard and S, with the latter getting more goodies like TFT instrument cluster, cornering headlamps, backlit handlebar switches, cruise control, a two-way quickshifter and Skyhook electronic suspension.
Triumph Tiger 1200
After the debut of the smallest of the Tiger family, the British marque is all set to unleash its big cat. While there are two variants (GT and Rally) with three trims for the GT and two for the Rally, India is likely to get the top-of-the-line Explorer variants only.
Triumph has been very vocal about the fact that it has the BMW R 1250 GS in its crosshairs with the new Tiger 1200. Not only is the new Tiger lighter than its predecessor by 25kg, it weighs 17kg less than the Bavarian Brute! Also with features like a 30-litre fuel tank, Blind Sport Radar and Lane Change Assist system, the new Tiger will definitely rattle the Beemer’s market share.
