Sure, its insane 1:1 power-to-weight ratio has been achieved before, but not at these featherlight numbers

  • It achieved a 0-100kmph sprint in just 2.54 seconds and a 309kmph top speed while testing at the NATRAX test track.

  • A sleek and clean design philosophy gives it a space-age look.

  • It is claimed to use DiCo battery tech which uses air cooling.

  • Will be used as a test bed for the upcoming production-spec Shul.

  • The startup hints at limited production units for the future.

With electrification being the trend in the automotive industry, Indian startup Vazirani Automotive has rocked up with a radical hypercar concept called the Ekonk. And it looks like this startup means business, with bold claims of what this single-seater hypercar is capable of.

Let's start with the electric powertrain under the hood. While the specifics haven’t been let out, it puts out a beefy 722PS of grunt. What’s really eye-popping about the Ekonk is that it weighs just 739kg. That translates to a tasty 1:1 power-to-weight ratio, which is unheard of under these kinds of figures. The folks from Vazirani Automotive also put it to the test at the NATRAX testing facility, where it recorded a 0-100kmph sprint of 2.54 seconds and topped out at 309kmph.

Credit for the Ekonk's lightweight nature goes to the full carbon-fibre body, and a design that the startup claims gives a low drag coefficient. Speaking of design, it looks space-age with an extremely clean silhouette, sleek headlights, multi-layered tail lights, as well as racy alloy wheels. Heck, the rear wheels were covered up with bodywork to help with the low-drag profile.

While the range figures of the Ekonk weren’t revealed, the startup did reveal an interesting bit about the EV’s battery technology. Called DiCo, it uses air to cool the batteries instead of the conventional liquid method, which Vazirani Automotive claims makes its EV lighter, safer, more cost-effective and allows for more range.

It's unclear whether the Ekonk electric hypercar will make it to production, but the startup has mentioned some of its technologies being present in the upcoming production-spec Shul. That being said, Vazirani Automotive did hint that they may consider building limited production models.
