After Taigun, Volkswagen Begins Exports Of Virtus From India

• 3000 units sent to Mexico as part of the first-batch of exports.

• Becomes the second made-in-India Volkswagen to be exported.

• Mexico is just one of the 44 countries under the group’s belt.

The Virtus has become the second made-in-India Volkswagen to be exported to markets abroad. Mexico will receive the first batch from Mumbai, which will include 3000 units of the sedan in a left-hand drive configuration. This is part of the brand’s India 2.0 journey that also includes the Taigun- the first model based on the MQB-A0-IN platform to be exported from India.

Mexico is one of the 44 countries where the SAVWIPL group (SKODA AUTO Volkswagen India Private Limited) exports the cars to. More units of the sedan are likely to be exported to the other countries in the following days. The Virtus has been a hit for VW as the brand delivered over 5000 units of the sedan in just over two months after its launch..

Commenting on the occasion, Piyush Arora, Managing Director of Skoda Auto Volkswagen India said, “We are marching aggressively on our path to growth, and the ramp-up of our exports is another significant stride in this direction. With this move, we are closer to realising our aim of making India an export hub for the VW Group globally, which is a significant pillar of our India strategy. The growth in our export numbers testifies to the success of the INDIA 2.0 programme. It also showcases India’s engineering expertise on a global stage.”

The Virtus is Volkswagen’s answer to the likes of the Skoda Slavia, Honda City, Hyundai Verna and Maruti Ciaz. Offered in two variants, prices for the sedan range between Rs 11.22 lakh to Rs 17.92 (ex-showroom).
