Select Volvo models, including the new XC40 Recharge, will soon get an over-the-air (OTA) infotainment system update to add Apple CarPlay compatibility. The update will be available for Google OS-equipped Volvo cars around the world, and can be downloaded anywhere with a cellular connection – so you won’t have to visit the dealership for this update.
Volvo introduced built-in Google for the infotainment system in its latest cars (mid-2021 models and onwards). It integrates Google Maps, voice assistant and other Google and Android applications without having to connect one’s Android smartphone.
The system did support Apple phones previously, but with the new update it’ll also offer the user experience and applications that Apple users are familiar with.

The new update comes right on time for the Volvo XC40 Recharge in India, which was one of the first Volvos to get Google OS in-built. All New Volvo electric vehicles (EVs), as well as ICE models, have the OS right off the production line.
