Yamaha has hiked the price of the R15S by Rs 1,000. The entry-level supersport from the Japanese marque now costs Rs 1,60,900 (ex-showroom Delhi) for the Racing Blue and newly launched Matte Black colours.
Despite the hike, the R15S is still Rs 25,961 less expensive than the KTM RC 125, while packing more power and better features. Unlike its sibling, the R15 V4, the R15S gets a unibody seat for a relatively more comfortable riding experience for pillion riders.
The Yamaha R15S is powered by the same 155cc single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine as the older R15 V3. It produces 18.6PS and 14.1Nm, which is 0.2PS more and 0.1Nm less than the Yamaha R15 V4, and is mated to a six-speed transmission with a slip-and-assist clutch.
Being an entry-level supersport, the Yamaha R15S rivals the likes of the KTM RC 125 and Bajaj Pulsar RS 200. Currently, the R15S is Rs 16,500 more affordable than the most affordable variant of the R15 V4. So, if the V4 is turning out to be a bit pricey for you, the R15S comes as an affordable and slightly more practical alternative.
