Jedi Motors, a Chinese two-wheeler manufacturer, has unveiled the Vision 750 supersport to dealers at a private event in China. While a concept based on this bike was showcased last year, the Vision 750 shown to dealers appeared in near-production form, and more importantly, seems to have retained most of its styling from the concept model.
Unlike most Chinese brands who are notorious for imitation, Jedi has been doing things differently, and the Vision 750 is a testament to that. The sharp fascia paired with sweeping side panels give this motorcycle a futuristic, butch appearance. There’s a right blend of beefiness and sharpness throughout. But like with most Chinese bikes, is it all show and no go?
Well, this bike packs enough firepower, as it is expected to be powered by the same 730cc liquid-cooled parallel-twin engine producing 81.5PS and 60.7Nm, that’s used in Jedi’s other offerings. This puts it right in Yamaha R7 territory, as the Japanese supersport puts out 73.4PS and 67Nm.
This engine has been developed by the iconic Swiss brand Suter, who has also helped develop an unusual cast alloy frame for this bike. Underpinnings also include an upside down fork and monoshock, while the use of Brembo brakes is a reassuring touch.
The Vision 750 features a TFT display along with a keyless ignition system which also includes a tyre pressure warning light, as well as fuel, temperature, time, air temperature and gear position indicators. It features dual-channel ABS and riding modes, just like its naked neo-retro sibling that was launched earlier this month.
Prices of this supersport were not revealed to dealers, and this bike is not headed for India. The Kawasaki Ninja 650 and the Honda CBR650R remain your only options if you are looking for a mid-displacement supersport bike.
