The 2024 Kia Sonet facelift is available to buy in a total of seven broad variants: HTE, HTK, HTK+, HTX, HTX+, GTX+ and X-Line. You may have already seen the top-end variant on our website, so in this report, we’ll be looking at how the Sonet fares in its entry-level HTE variant. Here’s everything you need to know about the base model in our gallery.
This being the entry-level model, you get the same redesigned grille, but without the piano black finish. It’s flanked by a pair of halogen headlights and you don’t get DRLs up here, even though it has the outline. The bumper has a silver skid plate, which adds a dash of ruggedness to the fascia.
The HTE variant of the 2024 Kia Sonet sits on 15-inch steel wheels with plastic covers. Keen-eyed viewers will also notice that the entry-level model gets fender-mounted turn indicators, unlike the higher-end models that get ORVM-mounted units.

Moving to the rear, the Sonet HTE gets halogen tail lamps and while they are connected, the centre bit isn’t illuminated.
Step inside the Sonet HTE and the most obvious thing that’s missing in here is an infotainment system, which is offered from the one-above-base HTK variant. The entry-level model gets an all-black cabin with fabric upholstery. Thankfully, though, splashes of silver on the steering wheel, lower central console and around the AC vents add a splash of contrast.
In terms of features, this model comes packing only the essentials, such as manual AC, front power windows, central locking, 12v power socket, rear AC vents and USB Type-C charging outlets for the rear occupants. Safety is taken care of by six airbags, ABS with EBD, rear parking sensors, electronic stability control and a tyre pressure monitoring system.
The entry-level 2024 Kia Sonet facelift is powered by either a 83PS 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol or a 116PS 1.5-litre diesel engine, teamed with a 5-speed manual and 6-speed manual, respectively. For other powertrain options, including the turbo-petrol engine, you’d have to step up the variant ladder. To know the variant-wise powertrain options of the Sonet, check out this report.
The 2024 Kia Sonet HTE petrol is priced at Rs 7.99 lakh, while the same for the diesel engine costs Rs 9.79 lakh, ex-showroom. It locks horns with the Tata Nexon, Hyundai Venue, Maruti Suzuki Brezza, Mahindra XUV300, and Nissan Magnite.
