If you're a fan of the iconic Tata Sierra, then this report is for you. Tata Motors has revived the iconic nameplate, showing the Sierra ICE concept for the first time at the ongoing Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025. The iconic nameplate, set to be revived later this year, will go on sale as an electric version first followed by the ICE version you see in this report.
Without further ado, let’s get cracking to see how the new Sierra ICE concept looks like.
Tata Motors has retained some of the iconic design touches of the original Sierra, while providing it with plenty of modern day elements to keep it up with today’s times.
A massive rectangular grille with a huge Tata logo dominates the fascia and merges on to the sleek LED headlights. Right above this is a full-width LED DRL, which we have come to see in all new age Tata cars. The front bumper with gloss black elements and a chunky silver skid plate gives the fascia a macho look.
In profile, the Sierra ICE concept has an upright stance, reminiscent of the original model. Flush door handles give it a minimalist look, while the wheel arches are huge and get gloss black cladding for added muscle. These are filled by a nice set of sporty multi-spoke alloy wheels. Tata Motors has also tried to recreate the rectangular rear window look with the latest car, however, it’s in a split layout in the current car due to the five-door layout.
It’s all about minimalism about the Sierra ICE concept’s rear design. It gets sleek full-width LED tail lamps and a bumper with a silver skid plate. The tailgate mounted spare wheel in the original model, sadly, hasn’t made its way to this new version.
Minimalism and modernism is the approach Tata has taken to the Sierra ICE concept’s cabin. On what is a first for a Tata, it gets a floating three screen setup that spans the entire width of the dashboard. Contrasting yellow touches makes the cabin pop out and it also gets sleek AC vents. The familiar four-spoke steering wheel with the illuminated Tata logo have been retained.
We have also got a sneak peek at the rear of the Tata Sierra ICE, where it gets a bench seat with three adjustable headrests. One can expect the final production-spec car to get rear AC vents, charging ports and rear sunblinds for added comfort.
It’s still too early to talk about what features the production-spec Tata Sierra ICE will come packing with. But one can expect the final model to come with all amenities such as the aforementioned three screens, multi-colour ambient lighting, a panoramic sunroof, wireless phone charger, dual-zone climate control and powered front seats with ventilation.
The safety of occupants should be taken care of by up to seven airbags, ABS with EBD, electronic stability control, front and rear parking sensors, a 360-degree camera and Level-2 ADAS.
It’s too early to talk about powertrain specifications, but we suspect Tata might provide it with the 170 PS 1.5-litre T-GDI turbo-petrol engine to differentiate it from the Curvv, which gets a smaller 125 PS 1.2-litre T-GDI unit. Tata will also offer the Sierra with diesel and electric powertrains.
The Tata Sierra will slot in the extremely popular compact SUV segment. It’s expected to be priced from around Rs 11 lakh (ex-showroom). This puts it in contention with the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, VW Taigun, Skoda Kushaq, Maruti Grand Vitara, Honda Elevate and MG Astor.
