At the ongoing Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025, Skoda showcased the 2025 Kodiaq alongside the Octavia vRS facelift, 2025 Enyaq, Elroq, new-gen Superb, and the Vision 7S concept. The new generation of the SUV features a fresh look and a revolutionary change to its interior. Also new are some of the features and powertrain. It must be noted that the market launch of the new Kodiaq will take place in April 2025.
Crisp cuts and creases, an upright front end, arrow straight shoulder lines, sleek headlights and taillights, and a wide grille offer the new Kodiaq a fresh look with a touch of sportiness and elegance. It also has a muscular stance with a lower-slung body.
The new styling draws inspiration from the new design philosophy of Skoda, called Modern Solid, which debuted with the Vision 7S concept in 2022. However, it does feature the new brand logo comprising ‘Skoda’ lettering.
Key highlights of the new Kodiaq’s design include split headlight setup, integrated sharp daytime driving lights, Skoda signature grille with a prominent frame and vertical slats, slightly slanted roofline, C-shaped taillights, and subtle body cladding.
As mentioned earlier, the interior of the new Kodiaq gets a substantial makeover compared to its predecessor. The new-look and minimalist design layout appear upmarket. There is a new free-standing central information display, three rotary knobs, called Skoda Smart Dials, with an integrated display to operate air-con functions, uncluttered lower centre console, and a new two-spoke steering wheel.
Key features of the new Kodiaq are namely a 13-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a 10.25-inch driver display, a 14-speaker Canton sound system, multi-color ambient lighting, a panoramic sunroof, seat ventilation and heating, fast charging Type-C ports, and powered front seats. Safety features include up to 9 airbags, hill descent control, hill start assist, electronic parking brake with auto-hold, and ADAS with added functions.
In international markets, the new Kodiaq is available in a range of powertrain options, including petrol, diesel, and plug-in hybrid units. Firstly, there is a 150 PS 1.5-litre 4-cylinder turbo-petrol engine with mild hybrid functionality, and secondly a 204 PS 2-litre 4-cylinder petrol motor offered with an all-wheel drive system. Also on offer is a 2-litre 4-cylinder diesel engine with 150 PS and 193 PS tunes, coupled to a front-wheel drive and all-wheel drive setup, respectively.
A major upgrade comes in the form of a 1.5-litre petrol engine paired with a 25.7 kWh battery pack and electric motor. This system now delivers an EV-only range of up to 100 km with total power output rated at 204 PS.
The upcoming 2025 Skoda Kodiaq is likely to come with a price tag of Rs 40 lakh (ex-showroom). Once launched, it will take on the MG Gloster, Toyota Fortuner, Jeep Meridian, and the upcoming new Volkswagen Tiguan.
