Just two months back, we brought you the news that Kawasaki had introduced the 2021 Ninja 650 in international markets. Now, the updated motorcycle has set foot in India.
What’s The Price? Who Are Its Rivals?
Kawasaki has made no revisions to the Ninja 650’s price. The 2021 model retails at Rs 6,61,000 (ex-showroom, Delhi), same as the previous model’s price after its recent price hike.
At this price, the 2021 Ninja 650 remains one of the most affordable tickets into the big bike world. In the market, the Ninja 650 only sees one natural rival: the BS6 CFMoto 650GT, which undercuts it by over Rs 1 lakh but fails to offer the same level of equipment, brand name, or performance as the Kawasaki.
However, if faired motorcycles aren’t your thing, you can also check out the Kawasaki Z650 and the Triumph Trident 660, which cost Rs 37,000 less and Rs 34,000 more than the 2021 Ninja 650, respectively.
What’s New?
Since the Ninja 650 had undergone an overhaul last year itself, Kawasaki has resorted to a new colour scheme this time around. It’s called the Pearl Robotic White and wraps the motorcycle in grey and white paint. And in true Kawasaki fashion, you also get green inserts on the fairings and alloys. The new paint scheme ups the swagger and style quotient of the already impressive design of the Ninja 650.
What’s Unchanged?
Apart from the new colour, no other changes have been made to the bike. It continues to use the same 649cc, parallel-twin motor which comes mated to a six-speed gearbox and puts out 68PS and 65Nm.
The Ninja’s features list continues to boast a 4.3-inch TFT display, smartphone connectivity, LED illumination, and fancy Dunlop Sportmax tyres.
Underpinnings here comprise a steel trellis frame sprung on a 41mm telescopic fork and monoshock. Meanwhile, twin 300mm petal discs up front and a 220mm single disc at the rear help cut speed.
And if the new colour doesn’t excite you, the 2021 Ninja 650 also retains the characteristic Kawasaki Lime Green shade, carried forward from the 2020 model.
What Should Have Been Changed?
While we’re pretty content with the Ninja 650, the only little gripe here remains the absence of LED indicators, which have been skipped yet again.
ZigSays
It’s good to see that Kawasaki has already started introducing the 2021 range in India. At no extra cost, the updated Ninja 650 is certainly a proposition worth considering. Moreover, we feel the new colour jazzes up the sporty appearance of the Ninja 650, something fans and enthusiasts would certainly appreciate.
