Mercedes-Benz has launched the new 2022 C-Class luxury sedan in India from Rs 55 lakh onward. Known fondly as the baby S-Class, the next-generation model of the luxury sedan comes to India in three broad variants: C200 (petrol), C220d, and C300d (both diesel). The first two are limited to the Avantgarde trim while the C300d is exclusively offered in the AMG Line grade.
Take a look at the detailed prices:

Starting with the design, the C-Class looks familiar thanks to the family look. A familiar Mercedes grille dominates the front end, flanked by a pair of sleeker LED headlights. The bumper with its large air dam design looks sporty, but they have been covered off in the standard model.
The profile and the overall silhouette is very reminiscent of the outgoing car. But, while the older one had sharp creases running along, the new is full of soft flowing lines for a cleaner look. This author’s favourite angle ought to be the three-quarter rear, where the split-LED tail lamps and stubby boot lid give it that pucca mini S-Class vibe.

It’s on the inside where Mercedes has stepped the game up thanks to the S-Class-like dashboard design. Dominance is taken care of by the 11.9-inch touchscreen infotainment system (standard on all variants), while the driver gets his own party piece in the form of a digital instrument cluster.
Rear seat passengers have been given attention as well, thanks to the 25mm longer wheelbase of which 21mm has gone toward improving legroom which is very apparent. To know how the new C-Class fares when it comes to comfort and features, read our in-depth first drive review.
There are two engines on offer: 1.5-litre petrol and 2-litre diesel (in two states of tune). Mild-hybrid technology, which was offered only with the petrol engine, is now standard. Thanks to which, Mercedes says there is an improvement of up to 29 per cent in fuel economy. All units are teamed to a 9-speed automatic transmission that sends the drive to the rear wheels.
