One of Merc’s best sellers, the GLC, has received a generation update on our shores today. The German luxury marque has launched the 2023 GLC on our shores from Rs 73.5 lakh (ex-showroom). It comes in two broad variants: 300 (petrol) and 220d (diesel). Pre-launch bookings are open for a while now and it has racked up 1,500 bookings. Here’s a look at the variant-wise prices of the new GLC:
Variants |
Ex-showroom Price |
GLC 300 (petrol) |
Rs 73.5 lakh |
GLC 220d (diesel) |
Rs 74.5 lakh |
The new GLC commands a premium north of Rs 11 lakh over the outgoing model, which was priced from Rs 62 lakh (ex-showroom).
The new Mercedes-Benz GLC looks familiar as its exterior design is revolutionary. So the front grille is now a tad larger and the headlights are sleeker, improving its road presence. In profile, the lines now look softer, making its silhouette even smoother. And to give it a beefy stance, Mercedes has equipped it with 19-inch alloys. New split-LED tail lamps round off the overall design.
It’s on the inside where things are brand spanking new. The dashboard design has been lifted off the new C-Class, which isn’t a bad thing, as the design scores high on opulence and modernity. The central console features a massive 11.9-inch touchscreen infotainment system, through which you can access all the features, while the driver gets a 12.3-inch digital display.

Then there’s the striped wooden panel on the dash, which takes inspiration from Mercedes- Maybach cars. Also, the splashes of ambient lighting, which gets 64-colours, look wicked, especially when the lights go down. But this author’s favourite bit is the turbine-like AC vents, a characteristic Mercedes feature, which work with a satisfying click.
The GLC gets connected car tech, dual-zone climate control, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a panoramic sunroof, 15-speaker Burmester 3D surround sound system, a powered tailgate as well as powered front seats. Its safety kit consists of seven airbags, electronic stability control, a tyre pressure monitoring system, and select ADAS features.
The new-gen GLC gets both petrol and diesel engines, both with a 2-litre displacement. These engines get mild-hybrid tech with 23PS boost and drive all four wheels. Here’s a lowdown on the specifications:
