The flagship Bavarian supersport gets a massive overhaul after three years

BMW Motorrad has launched the 2023 iteration of the S 1000 RR in India. The flagship BMW supersport now gets a major overhaul to help it step up and deliver ultimate performance where it matters the most.

What’s The Price? Who Are Its Rivals?

The 2023 BMW S 1000 RR is now priced at Rs 20.25 lakh, making it Rs 50,000 more expensive than its predecessor that cost Rs 19.75 lakh ex-showroom. The Pro variant is priced at Rs 22.15 lakh, while the Pro M Sport variant costs Rs 24.45 lakh (all prices are ex-showroom). Deliveries of this Beemer is slated to begin from February 2023.

Despite this increase in price, the S 1000 RR continues to undercut its main rivals –  the Honda CBR1000RR-R (Rs 23,11,292 onwards, ex-showroom Gurugram) and the Ducati Panigale V4 (Rs 26.49 lakh onwards, ex-showroom India).

What’s New?

First off, the 2023 iteration of the BMW S 1000 RR gets subtle aesthetic tweaks, wherein the front is more sharper, while the rear is flatter. This design revision is now coupled with aerodynamic winglets that look like they’ve been lifted off the track-spec BMW M 1000 RR.

The 999cc inline-four screamer now produces 209.4PS and 113Nm, that is 2.7PS more than the outgoing bike. This engine, coupled with an updated electronic suite, consisting of a new Slide Control Function and Brake Slide Assist, along with a tweaked chassis for better front-end feel, should help riders shave off those precious milliseconds in their attempt to set the track ablaze.

Finally, rounding up the list of updates are three new sporty colour schemes – Blackstorm Metallic, Racing Red and Light White.

ZigSays

No doubt that the price of the 2023 BMW S 1000 RR seems high, but that is because this bike comes to India as a CBU (Completely Built-up Unit), straight from Bavaria, Germany. Also, this sporty Beemer is blisteringly fast on track, while being sensible enough to be used as a daily ride. Such an attribute is extremely rare in this class of motorcycles.

How will the latest iteration of the BMW S 1000 RR fare after a massive overhaul is something we are curious to find out, and bring to you after we ride this bike. So stay tuned to this space for more.
