It gets the same 4-valve engine as the Hero XPulse 200 twins

With one launch after another, Hero has been on a roll, and the latest addition to its portfolio is the updated Hero Xtreme 200S 4V. This happens right after the launch of the Xtreme 160R 4V as well as the Harley-Davidson X440.

What’s The Price? Who Are Its Rivals?

The updated Hero Xtreme 200S 4V is available in one variant and is priced at Rs 1,41,250, ex-showroom Delhi. This makes it Rs 5,890 more expensive than the 2V model.

The bike rivaled the Suzuki Gixxer SF and the Bajaj Pulsar 220F, however, with the updated 4-valve air-/oil-cooled engine, it now also competes with the Bajaj Pulsar RS200.

What’s New?

  • While the overall design and styling have remained the same as the 2V model, the 4V gets new graphics and colours.

  • It is sportier now with flashy graphics on the fairing, fuel tank and side panels.

  • Even the Moon Yellow, and Panther Black Metallic colour schemes are pretty fancy and new. There’s a new Stealth Edition as well.

  • Interestingly, the Moon Yellow colour is reminiscent of the OG Karizma yellow.

  • It borrows its engine from the Hero XPulse twins – a single-cylinder, 199.6cc, air/oil-cooled mill.

  • It produces the same 19.17PS and 17.35Nm as the XPulse twins, but 1PS and 0.9Nm more than the Xtreme 200S 2V model.

  • With the addition of an oil cooler, the bike could offer better sustained performance.

  • Hero has also updated the bike’s ergonomics to make it a bit more sporty with a new raised clip-on handlebars.

  • Even the braking hardware is borrowed from the Hero XPulse 200T – petal discs on both ends but still with single channel ABS.

What’s Unchanged?

Apart from the above-mentioned upgrades, the rest of the bike remains completely unchanged from its 2V sibling – same telescopic fork and monoshock suspension setup, alloy wheels and LED lighting with bulb indicators.

ZigSays

While Hero is trying to make the Xtreme 200S more relevant for the present day with these upgrades, we would have liked a bit more wholesome rehaul. Especially for a premium of almost Rs 6,000. For instance, a bit of alteration in the design and the overall appeal of the bike would have been much welcome. Summing up, this bike will act as the stepping stone to Hero’s upcoming, flagship offering, the Karizma XMR 210, which will likely be priced a lot higher due to its liquid-cooled engine, perhaps around Rs 1.75 lakh.
