This XPulse promises to offer better touring mannerisms with its four-valve heart

After months rolled by with only the arrival of teasers and numerous spy shots satiating prospects’ expectations, the Hero XPulse 200T 4V is finally here. This road-focused version of the XPulse 200 4V should now offer a better touring experience thanks to its four-valve powertrain.

What’s The Price? Who Are Its Rivals?

The Hero XPulse 200T 4V is priced at Rs 1,25,726 (ex-showroom Mumbai), asking a premium of Rs 1,036 for the two extra valves. When compared to the XPulse 200 4V, this bike is cheaper by Rs 11,770.

The XPulse 200T 4V is pretty affordable in the 200cc space and competes against the likes of the TVS Apache RTR 200 4V, the Bajaj Pulsar NS200 and the Honda Hornet 2.0. While this bike does not pack as much performance as the Apache RTR 200 4V, or the Pulsar NS200, it does have enough substance to take on the Hornet 2.0.

What’s New?

A majority of the changes revolve around its 199.6cc air-/oil-cooled engine, which now gets a four-valve head, similar to its off-road sibling. Even the power output is the same as the four-valve off-road XPulse at 19.1PS at 8500rpm and 17.3Nm at 6500rpm.

You now get funkier colourways – Sports Red, Matt Funk Lime Yellow and Matt Shield Gold – with loud graphics, clearly giving a youthful aura. This coupled with a lowered LED headlight, body-coloured visor, fork gaiters, a redesigned belly pan and a simple grabrail make for a pretty substantial upgrade over its two-valve variant.

What’s Unchanged?

The bike continues to roll on 17-inch alloy wheels wrapped in road tyres. Even the features on offer remain the same, with a digital LCD instrument cluster offering smartphone connectivity (call alerts and turn-by-turn navigation) and displaying tell-tale lights along with the gear indicator. There’s an under-seat USB charger on offer as well.

The underpinnings remain the same as before, comprising a 37mm telescopic fork and seven-step pre-load-adjustable monoshock suspension setup along with 276mm front and 220mm rear petal disc brakes at both ends for braking.

ZigSays

The XPulse 200T 4V finally arrives and breathes some fresh air into its segment, and that too without a substantial premium which makes it a good value for money proposition. Also considering this bike continues to remain an affordable offering in the 200cc segment, and now gets the goodness of the four-valve engine, the XPulse 200T 4V does present a good case for itself.
