With the impressively-priced X440, Harley aims to challenge the Royal Enfield Classic 350's dominance

Harley-Davidson has finally launched the X440 in India and it’s the smallest and most affordable Harley-Davidson bike to come to India ever since the Street 750. Harley has made the bike in conjunction with Hero MotoCorp. Here’s all you need to know about this neo-retro roadster:

What’s The Price And Who Are Its Rivals?

With its prices ranging from Rs 2.,29,000 to Rs 2,69,000 (both ex-showroom), the X440's pricing is very competitive. It hence goes up against the Royal Enfield Classic 350, Honda H'ness CB350, Yezdi Roadster and the Jawa 42 2.1. Bookings for the bike will commence from July 5 for a sum of Rs 5,000.

How Many Variants Are There?

There are three trims of the X440 on sale: Classic, Vivid and Pinnacle. Here's what each one gets:

1) Denim: Spoke wheels + single-tone colours + blacked-out engine fins - Rs 2,29,000

2) Vivid: Alloy wheels + dual-tone colours - Rs 2,49,000 lakh

3) S: Diamond-cut alloys + more premium colour schemes with 3D decals on the tank + machined engine fins - Rs 2,69,000

ZigSays

With Harley bikes getting eye-wateringly expensive, the X440’s competitive price tag could bring a whole new bunch of new riders to the Harley clan. With its pricing and even output figures, the X440 seems to have a huge potential to make a mark in the 500cc retro segment that once once dominated by the iconic Royal Enfield Classic 500.

And with features like neo-retro styling, an inverted fork and a TFT console, the X440 stands out from Harley’s current crop of bikes and that’s quite refreshing to see. How the X440 performs against its rivals, especially the Royal Enfield Classic 350, is something we're very eager to see. We'll be riding the bike soon, so stay tuned to ZigWheels to be among the first ones to catch our first ride review.
