TVS has launched a geeky variant of its sporty 125cc bike – the Raider. Priced at Rs 99,990 (introductory, ex-showroom Delhi), the TVS Raider SmartXonnect variant comes loaded with the SmartXonnect Bluetooth connectivity system via a five-inch TFT display.
Thus, this bike comes with features like turn-by-turn navigation, weather updates, music control, incoming/missed call alerts, voice assist, auto navigation to the nearest petrol pump, cricket updates, social media updates and SMS alerts.
This in addition to the segment-first ‘Eco’ and ’Power’ riding modes, along with remainders for service and low battery that the TVS Raider boasts of. Keeping in line with the tech-savvy theme, TVS launched this new variant of the Raider in the Metaverse, which the company had dubbed the Motoverse!
Mechanically, the TVS Raider SmartXonnect is powered by the same 124.8cc air-oil-cooled mill producing 11.38PS and 11.2Nm as the standard variant. In Eco mode there's a three per cent drop in performance, but fuel economy increases by a claimed three per cent. The Power mode offers a claimed 10 per cent higher top speed, with a 0.4 second quicker sprint time to 60kmph.
Additionally, the TVS Raider features an integrated starter generator for silent starts and an idling stop-start system to conserve fuel in heavy traffic. Underpinnings include a telescopic front fork and a five-step pre-load-adjustable monoshock. Braking hardware comprises a 240mm front petal disc and a 130mm rear drum unit.
The Raider SmartXonnect rolls on 17-inch alloys shod with TVS Remora tyres measuring 80-section at the front and 100-section at the rear. The bike is equipped with a 10-litre fuel tank.
The TVS Raider SmartXonnect rivals the likes of the Honda SP125, Hero Glamour Xtec and the Bajaj Pulsar NS125. That said, we would’ve preferred if TVS had equipped this bike with single-channel ABS at least, rather than providing a provision for cricket and social media updates.
