BMW Motorrad India is looking to attract more buyers to its fold by pricing the BS6 BMW G 310 R and G 310 GS at really attractive prices of Rs 2.45 lakh and Rs 2.85 lakh, ex-showroom Delhi. That is a massive price reduction for both motorcycles with the R now Rs 54,000 cheaper and the GS priced Rs 64,000 lower than the BS4 model. This aggressive move has also helped BMW undercut its main rivals from Austria, aka the KTM 390 Duke and 390 Adventure. Bookings for the small BMWs had already begun a while ago, with BMW even introducing a low cost EMI scheme for the two bikes.
The obvious change on both motorcycles is the addition of a LED headlight and LED turn indicators. On the roadster, slightly redesigned tank extensions are also to be found. Finally, BMW has given adjustable brake and clutch levers on the G 310s, which would be a big boon for shorter riders on the GS.
BMW has played catch up with regards to the engine updates when compared to its Indian partner, TVS. The 313cc single-cylinder mill got the BS6 updates first on the Apache RR 310 and now have finally found their way onto the Beemers. Thankfully, the engine still dishes out the same 34PS and 28Nm as before. Hopefully, the addition of ride-by-wire, a slip-and-clutch and GTT-esque should make the riding experience better.
We also appreciate that there are no major changes to the underpinnings of both motorcycles. The G 310s continue to use steel trellis frames with bolted-on subframes, chunky gold USD fork and preload-adjustable monoshock. Both motorcycles get alloy rims with the R running on 17-inchers at both ends while the GS having a larger 19-inch front wheel.
We hope to be riding these bikes soon. So stay tuned to ZigWheels for the road test review of the BS6 G 310s.
