Mercedes-Benz has launched the facelifted A-Class in the country from Rs 45.8 lakh (ex-showroom). Like before, the A-Class comes to India in two body styles: sedan (standard engines) and the hatchback (in the ballistic A 45 S guise). One thing to note with the sedan is that Mercedes has announced prices of the petrol variant only with the diesel model set to be launched in Q4 2023. Also, there’s no word on the sporty and locally assembled AMG A35 sedan either.
Here’s a look at the variant-wise pricing:
Variants |
Old Price |
New Price |
Premium |
A200 Limousine |
Rs 42 lakh |
Rs 45.8 lakh |
|
AMG A45 S Hatchback |
Rs 83.8 lakh |
Rs 92.5 lakh |
|
As seen in the above table, the A200 is now Rs 3.8 lakh dearer than before. And on the other hand, if you want the A45 S, which continues to be an import, you’ll have to shell out a whopping Rs 8.7 lakh more.
The styling revisions are subtle. The sedan now boasts a revised grille with small tri-pointed star inserts, new 17-inch alloy wheels and updated LED tail lamps. Rounding it off are the mildly revised bumpers.
Spotting the changes on the gorgeous looking A45 S is even more difficult as it’s just limited to the revised LED headlights.
If you thought the exterior changes were minimal, then step inside, as apart from the new steering wheel, both cars are almost identical to the pre-facelift model. But that’s not a bad thing as the cabin ambience in both the cars is top-notch, thanks to the dual 10.25-inch screens, splashes of ambient lighting and the turbine-like AC vents.
A couple of new features have been added such as wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, hands-free access for the boot, keyless entry, faster charging output for the USB chargers and an additional knee airbag for the driver, bringing the total to seven. It also gets updated connected car tech and the revised MBUX infotainment system with updated graphics and more custmosiation options apart from added telematic features. The rest of the features are carried over from the pre-facelift model, which you can read about in our first drive review.

No changes have been made to the powertrains for both cars and to make life easier, we have compiled them in an easy-to-read table. Here are the detailed specifications:
Parameter |
Mercedes A200 Limousine |
Mercedes A45 S Hatchback |
Engine |
1.3-litre four-cylinder turbo-petrol |
2-litre four-cylinder turbo-petrol |
Power (PS) |
163PS |
421PS |
Torque (Nm) |
270Nm |
500Nm |
Transmission |
7-speed DCT |
7-speed DCT |
Admittedly, Mercedes is charging quite a premium for both the models, with only miniscule changes to show for it. So if you had your eyes set on the pre-facelift model, you’d do well to continue with the purchase. The A-Class locks horns with the BMW 2 Series.
