Unfortunately, turn-by-turn has been given a miss

In a surprise move, Hero MotoCorp has added another product to its XTec line of models with the Destini 125 XTec.

What's Its Price? Who Are Its Rivals?

The Hero Destini 125 XTec has been priced at Rs 79,990 (ex-showroom), making it Rs 5,690 more expensive than the LX variant. This new Hero scooter primarily competes with the likes of the Yamaha Fascino 125 Hybrid (Rs 80,530), Honda Activa 125 (Rs 74,989 onwards) and the Suzuki Access 125 (Rs 75,600 onwards) (all prices ex-showroom Delhi).

What's New?

Of course, the XTec tag brings Bluetooth connectivity to the Destini 125. With its new semi-digital instrument console, riders can get call/sms alerts, however, turn-by-turn navigation has been given a miss.

The Hero Destini 125 XTec also features a bunch of aesthetic changes. This includes a new redesigned LED headlamp, a pillion backrest and a generous use of chrome throughout. Hero MotoCorp has also thrown in a USB charger for the XTec variant. Additionally, Hero has introduced a new Nexus Blue colour exclusive to this variant.

What's Unchanged?

Apart from the aforementioned changes, the Hero Destini 125 XTec remains identical to the standard variant. So, it gets the same 124.6cc single-cylinder engine making 9.1PS at 7000rpm and 10.4Nm at 5500rpm. Even the suspension and braking components have been carried over from the standard variant.

What Should Have Been Changed?

Hero MotoCorp should have given turn-by-turn navigation to the Destini 125 XTec, especially since the Suzuki Access 125 has it. Also, given that it is a top-spec variant of the Destini, we would have loved to see a front disc brake on the scooter.

The Hero Destini 125 XTec brings a bunch of new features to the scooter. However, at Rs 79,990 it turns out to be a pricey proposition when you consider its sibling, the Hero Maestro Edge 125 Prismatic+ Connected variant. For Rs 2,000 over the Destini XTec, you get a disc brake at the front, and a comprehensive connectivity system via Hero Connect.
