The new variant comes in at Rs 230 more than the base trim

Hero had teased the arrival of a dark variant of its Super Splendor a few days ago on its social media handles and the company took no time to release all of its details. Meet the Hero Super Splendor Black And Accent Edition.

What’s The Price? Who Are Its Rivals?

Hero has launched the Super Splendor Canvas Black Edition at Rs 77,430 (ex-showroom Delhi), making it Rs 230 dearer than the base drum trim. The Canvas Black Edition disc version costs Rs 81,330. It continues to be Hero’s affordable 125cc commuter motorcycle with this particular version still continuing to be more affordable than the feature-packed Glamour 125.

The Super Splendor will continue to take on the likes of the Honda Shine 125, Bajaj Pulsar 125 and the TVS Raider 125.

How Many Variants Are There?

There are in all four trims of the Super Splendor: drum (Rs 77,200), disc (Rs 81,100), Canvas Black drum and Canvas Black disc.

What’s New?

As is evident, the new variant is more of a visual rather than a mechanical update. All body panels remain the same as the regular bike but they all now come dipped in black. Hero had given a similar treatment to its bread-winner, the Splendor Plus, a while back and in the flesh, it did look quite pleasing.

Besides the colour, you get a chrome 3D ‘Super Splendor’ logo, a few more chrome accents surrounding the headlight and near the exhaust shield, and a couple of grey stickers.

What’s Unchanged?

Absolutely everything. It gets the same 124.7cc motor, 10.87PS and 10.6Nm on tap, five-speed gearbox, telescopic fork, twin-shocks, and tubeless tyres. Even the brakes remain the same.

This mild update is a nice way to keep the Super Splendor a bit relevant. However, considering that its competition is raking in some healthy numbers, team Hero could’ve done a bit more, especially on the features front.
